I’m black and I’m never going back. I’m a grown black man that stayed over night at this location and was profiled not once but twice by club members. This was a terrible experience especially for the white people I was there with. It’s 2022! We no longer row the boats, we own them now.As for your response..... No thank you!!!! I do not feel that in 2022 you need someone to tell you or discuss how to make people feel welcome at your club. You ask questions around the club, maybe the 3 jokers that dropped the ball will step up and say hey that was me he's talking about". Find out from them what they said and why they think a visitor would write a review like this.."

Great club and great facilities. Have been a member for over 2 years having been involved in boating for over 15 years on Lake Ontario. Friendly and down to earth people at this club. Just get chatting with anyone on the dock and they'll be happy to assist you. Great cruising and racing program and very supportive overall. Amazing race committee that knows how to run a proper course. Has a great facility for kids (playground as well as a learn to sail program). This is how you keep the sport alive.

My wife and I have been members for several years now. We were looking for a club that was intimate in size, welcomed those new to sailing, and had well equipped facilities. We found all that at FBYC! We had access to formal and informal training, met new friends through many social activities, and became very involved in club maintenance and administration. There are many skilled racers, seasoned cruisers and also those who just love to relax aboard and enjoy the surrounding natural habitat and cool summer breezes. Regardless of your specific boating expertise and preference, there are Members who share your interests. As a ‘self help’ club, Members also share their non-boating expertise to maintain and enhance our facilities. We have a beautiful new service dock, completed last year, and we always have different projects on the go. Frenchman’s Bay is a lovely sheltered harbour and we feel fortunate to have made a great choice in making FBYC our home base!

Our experience at Frenchman’s Bay Yacht Club this past weekend was mortifying. And as mortifying as it was for my husband and myself, I can’t even imagine how the experience made our guests feel. We came in from a reciprocal club. We prebooked a slip for Saturday night. When we arrived we were greeted and help into our slip. We were then shown the club and the gate codes to get in and out. After several hours of being walking around the grounds and chatting on the boat we decided we would go out for a walk on the beach. We punched in our code and hit the button. A gentleman (and I use the term very loosely) pulled along side of us as we were leaving to mention “this is a privates club” I answered yes and ?? Again he said PRIVATE and drove off. After several hours at the beach we returned. Punched in the code and started heading toward our boat. There was a band playing and (what appeared to be an award ceremony from the regatta earlier in the day.)we’re everyone (no exaggeration turned and looked at us walking up the dock toward our boat. While we are almost at our boat TWO men once again approached us and asked why we were there. Did I forget to mention that our friend and quest of our boat was black. When we said we were there as a reciprocal guest they said oh we saw the fishing rod and thought why are they here).. (that’s it.. no ..oh that’s nice why don’t you come and listen to the band) this experience had my stomach turning all night. It was obvious that our friend was being targeted because he was black. My heart was so heavy for his experience the whole night and still is. We felt so disgusted that we were up at the crack of dawn and outta there. The experience made me so disappointed and so angry. I just could not believe it.What an unfriendly and uncomfortable visit. It was extremely obvious what was going on. This type of behaviour is just not acceptable. It never was and I can’t believe it continues in 2022.SHAME

Frenchman's Bay Yacht Club, located on the western side of Frenchman's Bay, is one of the only naturally protected bays on Lake Ontario, offering access through one of the finest channels on the lake. It's the people that make FBYC such a pleasure to be part of. Boaters helping boaters, even during a pandemic we've managed to stay close and look forward to another great season on the water.A few other great features; top notch dock side wi-fi on floating docks, a terrific junior sailing school, and a place to develop life long skills and friendships.

It's now 10+ years since we joined Frenchman's Bay Yacht Club, and it has been a great experience for myself and my honey. We were brand new to sailing, and at FBYC, we found people willing to mentor and help us along the way. FBYC is our second home, and the folks around the club are like family. We've had the pleasure of keeping our boat on all three of the docks, enabling us to get to know so many fellow club members. Can't imagine a better place to keep our boat.

This club calls themselves “The friendliest club on the lake”. There are some very friendly people there! After 3 seasons my personal experience is that the unfriendly and outwardly rude and exclusive clique on A Dock (which includes past Commodores) taint the mood of the club. It’s important to note that these “A dockers” have resigned from the Board of Directors as of the 2022 season. The Bay has been full of weeds for the past two years and there appears to be no solution to the problem for the 2022 Season.Last year cameras were installed inside the building and on the docks. These cameras pick up audio as well. Yes, they can listen to your private conversations.Update: Please note that I am in possession of videos that were recorded, including audio.

My husband and I joined FBYC in 2018. We were new to sailing and the club. We were immediately welcomed by its members and presented with opportunities for excellent training and many fun club activities - sailing trips and social events. We love the atmosphere and enjoy many summer days on this beautiful bay.
