I received some exceptional service from Scott today. Went in with what I thought was a badly broken bike (seat was completely backwards and nearly off-kilter). He fixed it on the spot and offered to not even charge me anything, despite that it took at least 10-15 mins of his time. He also offered sound advice on eBikes and which motors/batteries are the best for the money and not linked to battery fires. Very pleasant demeanor too - what a gem of a store! I will buy my next bike from them for sure. Patron this company - they are so knowledge, kind and professional!

At first appearance the shop looks a little small. Only seemed to have to people working but if you're like me that's a good thing! A real mom and pop shop! Very friendly people that know exactly what they are doing.I had two old bikes to drop off. One was just a tune up and the other a repair. Was told the part may have to be replaced which could take a while to come in. They call me the next day and tell me BOTH were done and instead of replacing the part they actually fixed it themselves. Saved me a lot of time and money! Great price for a tune up and repair. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for anything to repairs to tune ups. Great local place. Will be back someday!

Mark and his crew are fantastic! I sincerely am grateful for all the help he's given me since he opened. I did not even buy my bike from him, and I'm embarrassed to admit that! They weren't open yet when I bought. My latest situation was a recall failure on my specialized bike. I called Mark lastnlast and he told me to bring it in. He dug through a parts bin and gave me the correct part, put it on the bike for me, and wouldn't accept payment. He just told me to bring it back after the recall fixed my bike properly. He got me on the road with the right number of bikes for our upcoming family vacation. I can't speak enough about his pro service attitude, friendly spirit, bike knowledge and professionalism. You cannot go wrong at South lake cycle!

This is an absolutely fantastic local bike shop. They're professional, courteous, and know their bikes -- gravel, road, MTB, fat, and CX! And if they don't have a product you're looking for in the store, they'll get it for you!

Very negative experience.Salesperson (owner?) recommended a specific model and size. Said he had one in a box and would assemble for me ASAP. I heard nothing for a week. When I called, he said, “when I checked, I didn’t have that size after all.”Tried to sell me the larger one (previously said it was too big for me) or a different model with the “same motor” (untrue). Said he should be able to get the one I wanted in a month (also untrue due to component manufacturing issues.)All I ask in any transaction is communication and transparency. Neither were to be found at South Lake Cycle.

I had a broken spoke 20 miles from home and found this spot. Mark got me back on the trail in 30 minutes, despite having a packed schedule! Great shop and service!

Came in halfway through a wet ride and got some dry gloves. Very nice and friendly staff

From the outside, you would never guess how exceptional this downtown Excelsior, MN shop is.The owner, Mark and his staff are incredibly knowledgeable. They have been quick and professional in all the advice that they have given us over the years. They offer top quality bike gear, as we continue to embellish our bikes, which makes riding the Excelsior bike trails even more fun and safe.I think they are most noteworthy for their repair service. You don’t feel like they are rushing the job to get done. The passion to do the bike repair possible comes through. Which part to use seems well thought out and options clearly explained. The shop is thoughtful of timelines and works hard to complete orders to accommodate vacations and road bicycle sporting events.Their pro service attitude is tops. They are ideally located to assist riders on the 3 River parks trail, should a flat occur.I enjoyed using my leather bike pouch, helmet, front and back bike reflector lights, and that I purchase last summer and used the whole season. They offered the hard-to-find helmet size that we couldn’t find elsewhere. We have three different types of bikes and it really handy that they have accessories that fit all of them.They have a fun selection of retro style Linus bikes – I’m thinking about the bike basket that looks great and holds more. Looks like to goes off and on easily and would make taking along picnic items no problem.As winter’s cold runs on, we’re already planning when we can be back on the bike path.High recommended.

Great shop! Professional mechanics not high school kids. The secret is getting out on this awesome little shop!
