Ali's West Indian Roti Shop
I'd say Ali's is the best West Indian food in the West side of downtown Toronto. Consistently on point and it's guaranteed you'll hear the owner great regulars by name, which is a good sign of great food.I'm vegitarian so can only speak from that end, but get an all-veggie, dal pourie rotie and thank me later. Throw in a Double while you're at it.

I grew up with Trini parents who always said you can't eat Caribbean food just anywhere outside the home. With that in mind, this is the only place I eat out Caribbean because the food is not only good but we'll prepared and seasoned. I travel from the east end of downtown to Ali's when I want or am in the mood for Caribbean food. The travel is a commitment, but it's worth it and that why they get five stars all around!

We were in Toronto for the weekend, I searched for Trinidadian roti shops and Ali's came up. Had great reviews, so my partner and I visited.Curry beef roti was amazing, My partner had the stew chicken. Good lord the food is amazing. If we weren't driving back to Detroit I would have tried the homemade ice cream. It looked good.Next visit we are making Ali's a destination.

One of the best doubles in Toronto. Aloo Pie is amazing as well.Heat level can get very spicy so be careful when ordering the spiciest doubles. Also don’t forget to try their icecream. Homemade and natural flavors of coconut, mango and cassava. Coconut is a must try.Everything is halal, if that is a preference.

Ali's is superb. Amazing food and lovely people. Highly recommended. Last visit I finally tried the oxtail soup and it was delicious, hearty and warming.

This place is the truth! Been coming here for years, since my friend lives in the hood, we’d grab spicy rotis in high school days. Glad to say, they haven’t changed, consistent over a decade! The rotis are obviously the highlight but I’m partial to the curry chicken or beef on rice, $18 after tax (as of June, 2023). Big meal, almost enough for 2! Have shared one portion with my gf and we were both satisfied. If you’re on a budget, 2 doubles could serve as a small meal in a pinch and at $4 each, a deal for sure. Service is kind but quiet, don’t expect the perky Toronto cafe kids experience, these guys are here to feed you, fill you and leave a smile on your face with the flavours! Also, simple decor means this is more of a take out joint, then sit in.

This is easily my favorite Roti place to go when I’m in Toronto. I’m coming back!

Ali's West Indian Roti Shop
Very little to complain. everything is pricey nowadays, used to be much more affordable to eat here. The potato roti oftentimes tends to be too soggy and opens up all over through the roti wrap and through the paper bag when eating as a takeout. Once in awhile it has been almost what is expected from a take-out potato roti.

Ali's has been serving up traditional Trinidadian food for decades and they're legit the best west-indian roti shop close to downtown. They have a large menu serving up all the Trini favorites like doubles, curry, stew chicken, aloo pie, dhalpourie, etc. Along with a few Jamaican dishes.Everything is reasonably priced and good value for the amount of food you get and service is typically friendly. My only go-to for west Indian food downtown.
