St. Paul's Hospital Emergency
Took my daughter to St Paul’s emergency last night because of a breathing issue - everyone on the staff were very kind, considerate and caring. These emergency teams have a very challenging job and each team member that I saw (at 3am in the morning) brought their A game for each patient, even for those who chose to be less than considerate towards them. A little kindness goes a long way folks, and will help these medical teams greatly, they deserve it. Thanks again to this morning’s (Sept 5th) emergency team.

St. Paul's Hospital Emergency
The worst hospital emergency I've been to, I spent 8 hours there waiting for a specialist, one doctor came in and said the specialist is on way, I didn't see anyone for another 5 hours of waiting. No one even came over and asked why I was waiting so long. Horrible experience! I want to forget I was there! I hope I never have to go back there again.

Great security, nurses, doctors and general staff. I had the pleasure to meet doctor Spencer Heffernan in ER. Very humane and compassionate, great attention, always smiling and friendly. ER waiting time better than many other hospitals. They go through a lot of code whites (violent patients) and despite being always full of people with clear signs of substance abuse the keep a great professional attitude. I'm so proud of all of you! What an honor to be your patient.

I’m not sure why the negative reviews. The wait time is completely dependent on the seriousness of your issue. I have always received great care and a thorough assessment from the attending nurses and physician. I was always treated well. I have nothing but respect for the work they do here even during COVID where they don’t have the luxury of working from home like other professions.

St. Paul's Hospital Emergency
The people who work here do deserve 5 stars. But I’m giving 4 based on my experience. Check in and everything was easy, the front desk ladies were kind. I went and sat in the emergency waiting area and although I felt safe, I was extremely overwhelmed. There was quite a few people waiting as well, and some in pain / struggling and making awful noises. Some dealing with addiction etc. My anxiety was increased astronomically because of all this stimulation including beeping from machines, phones ringing, people eating etc,. Was taken to get an EKG scan within half an hour. The lady was very nice as I had an anxiety attack in her room and I asked for gravol and something for anxiety and she alerted a nurse for me. In another half an hour I had an X-ray which was fast and the nurse was very nice again and helped me take my necklace off/on. Then shortly after that I saw a doctor who was very kind and talked with me about my issue and a resolution. Then had blood work done , the lady was also so so nice with me as I had another anxiety attack. I was there for about 2.5 hours but was called upon pretty quickly which I do appreciate. Every staff member that helped me was so lovely and understanding and just wanted the best for me.

I've been to St. Paul's a handful of times in the past several years, and the experience has always been good. The most important thing is to treat staff with courtesy, and you'll get the same treatment in return. Staff are kind but firm, which is necessary in any busy downtown hospital. Waits have never been too long, and their approach to triage (including the Fast Track, which is worth an internet search) is top-notch. I hope I don't need to go to an emergency room any time soon, but when I do, it'll be St. Paul's.

St. Paul's Hospital Emergency
I've been to St Paul's ER several times for heart attack/stroke-related fears, and have always been evaluated and seen promptly (typically seen within 30 minutes, spent max 2hrs overall waiting for bloodwork results). If you're put in fast track you might have a longer wait, but they're doing their best to get to all patients based on priority. All staff from reception and triage to the bloodwork and lab attendants to the docs have been extremely patient, kind, and reassuring. Even at their busiest they still handle all patients with grace. You all are so appreciated!
