Sunmed Family Practice and Walk-In Clinic

Dr. Afrooz is a professional doctor who has the patience of a saint. I came in with a health scare and had quite a few questions and I know I was taking up quite a bit of her time (the office is quite busy). However, she took the time to answer the questions she could and even offered to book me in for a follow-up visit to go over anything we couldn’t address that day. I ended up leaving her office relieved.

Dr. Afrooz Drakshan should receive more than 5 stars. Our family has been with her more than 5 years and I have to say she is the best Doctor in the world. She takes care and provide top priority to her patients.I am now seeing her and also the specialist, but she is always follow up and make sure I get the best care.Clinic is extremely clean and good handle. Julia from the front desk also nice and professional.I have moved to another area which 45 minutes driving, but my whole family still coming to see Dr. Drakshan.There is nothing should be complained about Sunmed Clinic.

I must say something about Dr. Afraooz Drakhshan. Since 2021 or so, my husband and I have been a patient of this doctor. But, since last year I noticed a change in her attitude towards me.So my husband and myself decided to look for another doctor, unfortunately we have no luck whatsoever, around our area we live in Thornhill. We also searched Woodbridge, Richmond Hill and a few in North York, but to our disappointments we found no doctor accepting new patients.I have not been feeling well since last year, the test shows that I always have low vitamin D3, poor circulation and mild osteoporosis. Of course I'm concerned. But the issues is that she doesn't like when patients asked questions or tell her that maybe she have to explore with others test,I was very concerned about the pain I was feeling in my bones, legs, cramps and toes and hands.For weeks I have been suffering, but refuse to see her. My husband was worried and told me, just make an appointment with the doctor and I will accompany you and see how she treats you.Well, I call Yulia (receptionist) but I must say she is a very nice person. So I called the doctor's office and she said you can come today or tomorrow. I said today is fine. She asked for 10am or 12pm, so I decided to make a noon appointment.We arrived and as always Yulia was very pleasant. We wait around 15 minute or 18 minutes, and then Yulia takes us to the examination room #4.Maybe we waited perhaps around 8 minutes before doctor entered the examination room.I start to tell her about the pain and cramping I have been feeling, plus the strong sharp needle feeling in the bone beside my foot. I mentioned to her what happened on Thursday while I was driving a terrible cramp on the right toes that lasted a few minutes, and wasn't going away to the point I have to pullover.The pain was unbearable and scary. I have seeing her for the past 2 and a half year,But, Friday April 28, 2023 It was the last drop of what she did. She was asking questions as it was the first time hearing my symptoms.I think she doesn't review the patient file, before entering to see the patient,In the meantime I whisper to my husband, you see how she is behaving? My husband looked at me astonished and moved his head, I followed to tell the doctor that I was searching in Google regarding why I was having those symptoms, she sarcastically asked ¿Google o Yahoo? Only because she doesn't want to listen or explain, I guess it is not a crime to do that. So I stood up, walked toward the door and told her, you are not treating me for free, you are being paid and you are not a good doctor, then she closed the door on me, l but my husband and I walked away. She is very rude, condescending, has no patience, no caring at all. Seems to me she doesn't care about her patience. I wonder, I think she is in the wrong profession!

The girls in Dr. Drakhshan's office are nice over the phone and very accommodating. They were able to schedule me an appointment for a PAP (I've been due for one). They made sure I had a female nurse and they were very courteous and made the experience so much better.

The front desk is kind though the wait can be long so go early. The doctor is very no nonsense so she can come off as curt but she does her job very well.

Dr. Drakhshan is an excellent doctor. She’s quite patient and social and makes herself available for questions. I’ve been going to her for years now and she’s definitely my family’s go-to.

I had a terrible stomach bug and needed to be seen by someone ASAP. I called to see if I was able to walk in and luckily I was able to be seen by a doctor. I did have to wait some time because it was last minute but luckily I was able to be seen. I was given a prescription that helped ease my symptoms and I luckily made a full recovery. I’m super grateful for it.

I appreciate the lady at the front desk for scheduling my appointment for me. I know it was last minute but she worked hard to find a slot within a reasonable amount of time. It was going to take a week as the office is busy, but it was a lot sooner than other clinics were offering me. When I did get in the doctor there quickly diagnosed me and was able to write me a prescription. I'm on the mend now and couldn't be more grateful for how kind and professional all of the staff was. If I run into issues in the future I will certainly come back here.

Dr. Afrooz Drakhshan saw my father when he got sick and referred him to a much-needed specialist. If she hadn't been so thorough, my father would have gotten even sicker than he was. We appreciate the fact she was willing to see us.

I've been going to Dr. Afrooz for a long time and have never had a single issue with her service. She has always been a diligent doctor and seems to genuinely care about my wellbeing. She does work at a busy clinic so that can play a part in wait times but the service is worth the wait.
