Okanagan Rail Trail
The most scenic cycling trail! Our family of four biked from Lake Country to Oyama on this beautiful paved path (we’ve also biked along the gravel path on the opposite side of Wood Lake). Cycling in this amazing setting makes you feel good to be alive! We finished off our 18 km ride with treats from the OKF Grill in Oyama. Yum!Strongly recommend! We brought our own bikes from Alberta but there are plenty of places to rent bikes.*there are porta potties and bike ‘fix it’ stations along the trail as well as little beaches and a small dog run.

Awesome trail to showcase the Okanagan. The trail is well maintained, perfect for biking and offers incredible views of the lake, geography and wildlife in the area.

I took the ORT for the first from Winfield to all the watly to Vernon. I was pleasantly surprised. The trail is very smooth packed gravel. It is also very well maintained. There are numerous points on the trail where you can get off the trail and jump into the refreshing Lake Kalamaka. What a way to beat the Okanagan heat.I

Beautiful flat, well maintained trail that goes from penticton to vernon at least, maybe longer but either way there's a ton of trail and it follows along the lakes so you will get fantastic views majority of the time.I have really explored lake country area and it is amazing.Bike, hike, walk, run anyway you like this trail is worth visiting. Kalamalka lake is stunning in late summer,it's colorful and vividly stunning to see,hit the beach in Vernon or at Kaloya regional park in Oyama and go for a quick dip.bring water exposure to sun could get intense.

We cycled from KickWillie Loop Vernon to Lake Country City Centre. Absolutely beautiful. There are clean washrooms, fountain water at the beginning of the trail. The trail itself is in good shape and the scenery is breathtakingly beautiful. We highly recommend. Return distance today 60 km.

Coming south from Vernon the new interpretative site, at the four km mark, is a lovely new addition to this fabulous hiking and cycling trail. The signage is informative, especially the way it describes the marl lake and explains the colour changes that seasonally occur in the lake of many colours". There are really nice benches suitably positioned to provide some pretty great views. On a sunny day this should be a perfect picnic spot."

A wide lane of hard packed gravel and glorious views of Kalamalka and Woods lake. Our bicycle tour took us between the village of Lake country and the Kikuli Bay provincial campgroundThere’s also some pretty nice homes along the way.We ate our lunch at the provincial campground, a short way south of Vernon for the kids to play in the playground

Wow, what a beautiful and easy cruise along the lake. Cycled from Kekuli Bay to Oyama and back again with the children. Definitely this is the trail to take if you’re looking for the ultimate in ease of pedalling your bike while enjoying some BC’s best crystal blue waters. If you get a little warm, just pull over for a quick refreshing dip.

Stayed over at Vernon for a night. I looked for trails to run in the morning and grateful to have stumbled upon this gem. Google Maps satellite view doesn’t have the latest imagery in the area near Coldstream (e.g railways are still showing) so it is best to view the maps either by googling Okanagan Rail Trail Map or go to okanaganrailtrail.ca for up-to-date information. I parked on a residential street near College Way but realized there is parallel parking along Westkal Rd and some parking near the end of Kickwillie Loop Rd. The gravel lot near College Way is closed off to vehicles but it looks like it may be used for parking in the future.I ran from the 0KM marker at the gravel lot by College Way to Kekuli Bay Provincial Park and back on August 3rd, 2020, totalling ~16KM. Enjoyed the beautiful views of Kalamalka Lake in the early morning. There were people walking, running, and cycling. I saw wildlife along the way as well!We will see a lot of improvements in the future as they are building a washroom facility by the trails. There is an Okanagan Trail Rail Master Plan for more info. Hope to return!

Rode from Beasley Parking area around Wood Lake. An amazing ride, trail is getting more compact making it very easy to ride. The new rest area with benches and info on the Kokanee fish is wonderful and informative. Beautiful experience.
