An awesome, heart stopping bakery made in a french + asian fusion way. Their specialty croissants are a good way to introduce yourself to this tucked away in a classic building bakery. Everything is flaky and crispy (lots of butter indeed). They also sell frozen options for you to bake at home. They offer a variety of baked basics to goods.

Butter Block & Co's pop-up shop is located on the first floor in the Devenish building (former location of Itza Bakery). Currently only taking cash or credit.Her current croissant fillings are black sesame and matcha. I LOVED BOTH. Double baked croissants provide a nice crisp, crunchy outside, while the inside stays moist and flaky. The fillings are just right: amount is not too much/little, filling flavours are not overpowering, it partners well with the croissant.She also does wholesale orders. I will definitely be a regular here!

Wanted to love this place, but didn't! The buttery scent is intoxicating as you walk down the hall towards this bakery, and everything they have on display to beautiful. We came for croissants and definitely bought more than we planned to! Unfortunately, the consensus of the group was these croissants are flaky-on-outside-bready-on-the-inside and not the real deal.

Very good pastry shop. They make fresh croissant With many different flavours such as vanilla custard filling, Almond filling, chocolate and many other various of flavors. They also sell frozen croissants so you can bake at home nice and fresh. Definitely give this place a shot you could smell the fresh bakery here.

I had their coconut pandan croissant. It was quite delicious with a ton of butterycoconut filling and a crispy coconut topping. the pastry itself was an interesting colour of green perhaps from the pandan...however i didnt really taste the pandan flavour itself...overall it was a great product that i will be trying to replicate at home. I di think however that the filling was a wee bit too greasy and sweet - one could definitly go down on the butter and sugar. I would also recommend that they offer hot drinks like coffee or espresso.

Amazing croissants, a million different ways!! It's the service though that makes the difference!! These guys were so super friendly and really grateful for the business. Check em out!! Do it!!

I have frequented this bakery for several years now and they have never disappointed me. Their cinnamon buns are the best I have had in the city (I order at least a half dozen at a time because they are so damn good). Lots of cinnamon and not overly sweet (in a good way). Do yourself a favour and try them out!

It’s been way too long since I’ve had a solid croissant and these are IT. I prefer the crispier exterior and the buttery, soft interior. A solid amount of filling too. The service was excellent and the croissants are fantastic!!

I’ve lived in Calgary a year and it’s taken me that long to make it to Butter Block. You know that smell when you walk into a bakery? That rich, amazing combination of sugar and chocolate and cinnamon? Then you buy a bunch of stuff and it never tastes as good as it smells? Well, I got home with my selection of goodies and found that the cinnamon bun tasted just like the bakery smelled. So amazingly delicious. I have had plenty of treats, and these ones are top-tier level. And the day-old cookies are basically calorie free because over the course of 24 hours all the calories evaporate. That’s pure science.
