Amazing! Went to the pop up at Square One and the food and service was soo good! We had Nasi Goreng Kampoeng and the Famous Beef Rendang and our groupshared the chicken satay. The peanut sauce on the chicken satay was so delicious everyone was adding it to their plates!! We also bought someSambal in a jar to take home.

Came by once with a friend out of a whim. We were just going to pass by the food district at Square One when we passed by their pop up location and was immediately intrigued. Indonesian cuisine is not as common where we live so we were both curious. The lovely lady named Maureen invited us in, informed us of their dishes, and even taught us how to eat the dishes! It was honestly the most fun I've ever had while eating out, like an upgraded experience. I had to come back for their Beef Rendang and I'm glad I tried it because it melts in my mouth! So flavourful and tender! I would warn people about their spice, because their spice is no joke, but it's the type of spice that's flavourful and not just all burn. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who happens to drop by Square One's Food District! For the spicy pals, order the Nasi Goreng with the Satay. That's a match made in heaven honestly. For the mild eaters like me, order the Soto or the Beef Rendang (the food on the pic). I truly enjoyed the food and the experience in this place! Special thanks to Maureen for the extra care she gives to every customer! I wish all the best to this business. Best of luck! - Vern

We were craving for indonesian food and we were so happy to chance upon sambal toronto while we were walking around. We had the nasi goreng and beef rendang (don’t have pictures but the ones online look exactly like what was served) and they really hit close to home! Spice was perfect and service was great. They also let us try their satay, which was juice and yummy. Highly recommend trying the food!

Great food! Went to the pop-up at Square One. Ordered the nasi goreng kampoeng (Indonesian chicken fried rice). Delicious! Spicy. Service was great. Had the Jasmine Tea (in juice box).

Located in the food district at Square One... I finally find a place for real Indonesian food... we were welcomed on its opening day by Maureen a very jolly & sweet owner of the place. As I was new to the cuisine she helped me pick the dishes & the drinks. Everything that we ordered was so delicious & so fresh. She also told me that the peanut sauce for Sate is made fresh every day by her. The noodles were so creamy & delicious... which again are made fresh & handmade...Maureen said what we eat at home is what I serve here... and I could taste the authenticity...I will highly recommend this place... I know you'll come out happy & satisfied... 3 cheers to SAMBAL TO... Keep up to good food coming.... Will see you all soon....

Our first time trying Indonesian authentic or local cuisine. Quite an experience the way it was served. Guess, pandemic is still a scare.Quite a number of tables and spaciously separated.Service was fine like in any restaurant.Food was served in takeout boxes, which is economical and practical for small eaters. The Famous Beef Rendang (spicy beef stew) rice is spicy and has its own aroma. For those who like spicy food, this is good. The Nasi Goreng Kampong (local fried rice) is simply delicious. Like it on the first spoon scoop. The Bakmi Ayam (chicken Handpulled noodle) is a bit greasy though. Last but not least, the Satay Ayam (BBQ Skewered chicken) in peanut sauce, along with the compressed rice cube, is exceptionally tender. As for the value, it is on a higher side comparatively to the portion. Overall one should give it a try as it has its own ethnicity taste.

Friendly staff. Delicious foods. Regular customers. I used to buy them 2-3 times a month at Square One. I want to eat them again. I hope they’ll come back but stay permanently located at Square One.
