Kal Tire

Called about getting steel rims and winter tires put on our 2022 VW Taos. Wanted to go to a 17 inch rim instead of an 18 inch rim. Jason told me yes it can be done and gave me a price. Set an appointment for Sept 30. Got the tires changed out but my Wife noticed a vibration and pulling to the right. Contacted Jason told us to bring it in. Both my Wife and I questioned if this vibration will cause any damage to my Wife's brand new vehicle. His reply was, no he didn't believe it would. They rebalanced the tires and put them back on the vehicle and did make a comment how the hub on the vehicle had a rounded edge/lip and were having a bit of an issue mounting the tires. Still a vibration after that. Called Jason again he told me he found different rims and ordered them and they would be in, in a couple of days. Once they were in he would contact us and swap out the rims. Again, asked about the vibration causing damage. Was assured it would not. Got the new rims put on and was told that these fit better. The vibration was worse and still pulling. Contacted Jason again, inquired as to could it be a tire out of round was told that wouldn't be the reason. Also asked if he had contacted Volkswagen to ask about rims. His response was no and he felt it wasn't necessary and was going to search for different rims. He did get back to me to tell me he had to go to an alloy rim and it was going to cost me an extra $175. Told him to hold off because I was going to contact Volkswagen and get rims if I could. He told me that if I did he would swap them out. When I got looking at the rims on the vehicle it was blatantly obvious that rims were not seated properly on the hub. My Wife drove to Calgary and picked up rims from VW. Once we seen the rims it was obvious the hole in the center of the rim was not round. VW has a different shape to them. Once they put the rims we purchased from VW on, the rims were seated properly and there was no vibration. This whole process took 2 weeks. Hopefully the vibration didn't cause any damage as this is the only vehicle my Wife has to drive to work which is 100Km a day round trip. So, she put on approximately 800-1000Km during that time.Kal Tire Strathmore did not charge us for the extra work and did eventually get it right after we got the proper rims. I can't imagine what this cost them. It costed us a lot for all the extra time and effort going back and forth as well as having to go to Calgary ourselves to get the proper rims. Jason had no interest in reaching out to VW. If he did, the problem would have been rectified at the very beginning.I am giving them 2 stars instead of 1 because they did go through the effort of trying to fix the issue and it didn't cost us anything extra from them. But, it did cost us a lot. If he would have done a little research by reaching out to VW, he would have been better off.Will I go back to Kal Tire Strathmore? No. Will I recommend Kal Tire Strathmore? Probably Not.

Very disappointed with my recent dealings at this location. I called and ordered tires, was told they would call upon arrival. No call for several days so I called them instead and was told oh yeah the tires have been here for a while! Anyways booked truck in for a 9:30 appointment a few days after which was the soonest available. Dropped off the truck at 9am. and told them they could keep it all day, came back at 4:45 to the truck not being done. What was the point of making an appointment? I grabbed the keys and took my business elsewhere as I do not like having my time wasted.Edit: Upgrading from 1 to 3 stars as Kal-Tire head office tried to make it right however the Strathmore location still cannot handle making appointments and finishing vehicles on time. I dropped of my truck at 8:30 and I was promised it would be done by 4:30. We ended up waiting past 5.

Booked a 9am tire change appointment. At 9:45am my vehicle still hadn’t been started on. The employee had no reason for the 45 minute delay, and no estimate for how much longer it would be until my vehicle would be started on so we left. I wouldn’t book service here unless you have all day to wait.

Ordered tires a month ago.Waited for an hour when the tires came in to find out they were the wrong tires.Lied to me three times on where they were and when they would come in, now over 1 month they still don’t know anything about the tires .I was a customer for 12 years and now I will never shop here again.Really poor management and I hate liers.

Brought my tires there many times, But recently the last three tires have leaked, no soap was sprayed on tire to check for leaks prior to mount

Took the morning off work to get a tire rotation and oil change. Made a appointment, was told to come early. Was mentioned multiple times they were only open till 12(felt like didnt want my business cause it was a inconvenience).Showed up at 8, truck sat in parking lot till 9:30 before I left. Watched worker move someone else's work order in front of mine. Very poor service!!!

I've been to countless automotive and tire shops over the years and have always had an uneasy feeling about most of them. When I went to Kal Tire Strathmore, I did not have any of that. I was greeted nicely when I showed up for my appointment at 9 am. Vehicle was taken in right away and installed all new 4 tires while I waited. Also had a wheel alignment done and was told that the rear wheels eccentric was seized up and they could not be aligned. This was expected as the tires were wearing more on the inside of the tread. The tech that did the work came in to drop off the keys and explained all of that to me which was spot on. Made arrangements to have those parts ordered and will go back to finish that job. Probably going to get the shocks done too. 270K kms on the oem shocks, think they are due. :-)This is the only place that was completely honest and transparent with everything that I have ever taken my vehicles to. Which is nice to see in this industry.Front counter staff was very friendly and helpful. They even have snacks and drinks in the vending machine. Bathroom was amazingly clean which was nice to see that they don't overlook this. The details matter!Keep in mind, if you are getting new tires and it's spring or just before winter, EVERY tire shop will be busy, and sometimes the promised time goes over. So plan ahead and try to beat the rush for tires. If your dentist is a bit behind schedule, do you complain to them? Probably not.

Over priced to install two tires on rims for an ATV, then installed them wrong, both the same direction, argued with the tech. He claimed the tires that were removed were different sizes, found the old ones he realized he was wrong and apologized. No offer of compensation after having to make a return trip.
