Holiday Inn Ottawa East, an IHG Hotel

This was by far my worst stay in a hotel. The location smelled bad. The rooms were dirty on the walls, and the bathroom and the floor were stained. It was well stocked.We went to the pool, there was hair everywhere. There were wet yellow stains on the floor on the one side. It was uncleaned!Then my SO forgot his toothbrush, so like mentioned in the rooms bathroom, if you forget anything

Very comfortable beds. There's also a large shopping mall within walking distance of the hotel. The front desk can be busy so be prepared to wait in line for a while, especially if you arrive in the evening. Overall, good experience and no complaints.

Additionally, a noticeable stain on the carpet and a hairball left by previous guests raised concerns about cleanliness and maintenance standards. The air conditioner was unreliable, working sporadically and making it challenging to maintain a comfortable temperature. The recurring issue of the toilet chain getting stuck required frequent fixes, and the low water pressure in the toilet added to the frustration. The TV service offered only basic channels, limiting entertainment options. Obtaining a new key card for the pool daily was time-consuming, with frequent card malfunctions displaying a lack of proactive problem-solving. The pool's high chlorine levels caused severe eye redness and facial rashes for my husband, raising safety concerns. The mini fridge In fact, it was more aptly described as a micro-fridge rather than a mini-fridge. This was incredibly small, misleading in size and inadequate for storing items.Perhaps the most concerning issue was the mishap with the payment process. As I had booked through a third-party platform, the hotel mistakenly charged me for the stay again on my credit card instead of simply authorizing a hold for the deposit. This error required me to clarify the situation with the staff and have it rectified. The manager, she unfortunately, displayed a noticeable lack of approachability, with a consistently agitated demeanor and a significant amount of attitude. Although I understand that the hotel may have been busy, a more professional and understanding attitude would have been appreciated. Overall, the issues with cleanliness, unreliable amenities, pool safety, undersized fridge, and poor management attitude make me unable to recommend the Holiday Inn Ottawa East.

However, it was evident that they were quite occupied with accommodating numerous school groups during my stay. While this may have impacted their availability at times, they still managed to provide helpful service whenever needed. Despite the busy atmosphere, the staff remained professional and did their best to ensure a pleasant experience for all guests.Inside the room, I was pleased to find several amenities that enhanced my stay. Having a microwave and coffee maker in the room was a thoughtful addition, allowing me to prepare quick meals and enjoy a cup of freshly brewed coffee at my convenience. The TV provided a good selection of channels, and its modern design added to the overall aesthetic appeal of the room.The bed was exceptionally comfortable, providing a restful night's sleep after a long day of exploring the city. I appreciated the option of selecting pillows with different levels of firmness, allowing me to tailor my sleep experience to my personal preference. The sheets were soft and inviting, contributing to a cozy and relaxing atmosphere in the room.Furthermore, the hotel provided essential toiletries such as soap, shampoo, and lotion. The best stay ever. The environment was pleasant and welcoming. Both check-in and check-out were professionally handled and easy. The location is great as many places are nearby.The food i had at Myra’s bar and grill was super delicious!! I highly recommend to check out the property.

The stay in this hotel was probably one of the worst with holiday inn. To begin with, the hotel room we were given smelled so bad, it’s not even funny. It was like there was rotten food in the room somewhere. Anyways, got the room changed, but my point is if you’re charging 275 for like a 3 star hotel, you can atleast make sure your rooms don’t stink. I’m surprised their housekeeping didn’t complain and take the room off the list until the smell was resolved. No cups in the new room we were given, had to wait 15 minutes for someone to bring them up. The phone had no cord so only worked on speaker mode?Also, the snacks in their lobby are way too overpriced. I get it’s a hotel, but it’s more than double as to what it is outside.
