Duncan is a pro. He knows what he is doing in terms of inspections. But, he's also a good communicator about technical subjects that most people don't know a lot about. Duncan’s home inspection company was recommended to us by our realtor. The recommendation was excellent!Duncan is a great communicator and well trained and experienced professional inspector.The entire process was positive, reassuring and kept us well informed and involved. Our questions and inspection concerns were answered by Duncan as the process unfolded.Duncan responded to our initial email request for his services with an email, and followed up by a telephone introduction when he inquired about our needs and inspection concerns. He then forwarded to us a detailed overview of the scope of work and services that he was to conduct, along with the provincial code of ethics and standards that he was to follow.After Duncan conducted the inspection, he forwarded pictures of the inspection site for us to preview before we had a post inspection Zoom call. He went over the whole inspection process with us – explaining everything he saw, the current conditions, then why he inspected what he inspected. Duncan then wrote up and delivered a detailed inspection report with pictures of everything that he had inspected.Duncan was very professional from the initial email contact until the final Zoom meeting. He was attentive to our inspection concerns, and questions. He was patient and explained things in both technical and lay terms demonstrating his professional background and his ability to communicate to non-construction people. We found peace of mind home inspection by chance. We requested documents from a house we were considering and among them was a report from peace of mind. We didn’t end up bidding on the house, but we were so impressed by the thoughtfulness of the report and how everything was categorized and prioritized that we decided to go with them for the next house we bid on.From the moment we made contact, Duncan was responsive, kind, and patient and his prices were competitive. He took the time to go through all the permit and build documentation that was available on the 1912 house, and brought that knowledge with him into the inspection. He kept in close contact with us and our real estate agent all the way through, and was there for us for other questions we had even days after the inspection was done.As expected, the report was superb and it came in the same day, which was a huge benefit with the tight offer schedule. We were impressed that Duncan remains available to his clients for questions for as long as they own the house he inspected! We went with another home inspection company a month before on another house and the experience was night and day in terms of detail and quality.On a last small, but important note, Duncan made an effort to address and check in with both my partner and I equally with every conversation that we were in together. The last home inspector would only address my very tall and strong-looking male partner who knows nothing about houses, while I grew up renovating and building and was the one asking most of the questions.
