Kirk charged me top dollar to install 3 kitchen lights. 2 new location had to be set up. He asked me to pay in advance since I was a new customer. He removed the old fixture, ran new connection to the 2 new locations and left it at that since we did not have our new lights on hand. 4 days later when we contacted him to let him know we had the lights ready to go was followed by weeks of him not replying, saying he was to busy, saying next week but never committing to a date, followed by never hearing from him again leaving us with no kitchen lights for 3 weeks. When I finally got a hold of him today with conveying my frustration with his lack of commitment, he told me to 'stop whining' ! Can you imagine? I ended having finishing the work myself even though he was paid in full. I would stay as far away from this crook as you can and under no circumstance give him a penny in advance!

I found Kirk on Kijjiji and he came rather quickly, but like the other comments have written, he had strange behavior. He said he could do the job we need in 1.5 hours and could fix our panel that day. He charged $350 and we got him down to $300. He proceeded to do the job that took him 20-30 minutes, I paid him, he left, and the panel is still broken! No response of him as of yet, but I would not recommend his services.

I contacted Kirk through Kijiji to put some lights up. He came on time to my house but was behaving very strangely, would not make eye contact, and hardly listened to what we wanted done, yet said he was an expert at it. Then he said he would sit in his car and prepare a quote and come back in the house with a quote. Well, strangely, Kirk did not come back and 20 minutes later he sent me a text saying he is going to pass on the job. I texted him back to ask the reason for this and did not receive a response.Certainly everyone has a right to take or refuse a job. That being said, it is not OK to take someone's address, come to their house, and then leave without providing a quote or a reason why the job was rejected. I do not know if Kirk came to scope out the house or some other reason but in any case, this business has questionable ethics and I would not recommend Kirk to anyone given this suspicious behavior.

KIRK LOBERG over promises and underdelivers. Hired him for a job and he could not complete he seemed confused and was acting strange. Thankfully I did not pay him up front as he origanly requested. TOTAL WASTE OF MY TIME ON 2 APPOINTMENTS.

DO NOT USE THIS ELECTRICIAN. Kirk Loberg gave us estimate for work but refused to identify time required to remove our landscaping ground lights. Estimate with senior’s discount was $367.50. He insisted we prepay the amount by EFT. He completed work in 45 minutes and refused to reduce his fee. Would not reply to our e-mail regarding our concerns. Bad news, stay away. We believe that we were cheated.

We had Kirk do the electrical in our basement remodel. Including new fixtures, a new panel, new outlets and switches etc. He was fast, professional, friendly. Treated our home and family with respect. I would definitely recommend 1st Step Electric to friends and family. Looking forward to enjoying our new space. Thanks for all of your great work!

Kirk wired a new garage for me. He worked quickly and was done in the time we agreed and within the quoted price. We had a few changes during the job and Kirk was good about adapting to the new plan. Garage is great, outdoor sensors and security lighting is keeping undesirables from hanging out in my alley. Thanks Kirk.

This guy can't be trusted. He promised a 1 year warranty on his work, yet within one week I had issues and he wouldn't return my calls. Eventually he replied to one of my messages and said he'd come over but he never did. At that point I realized Kirk never had any intention to honor his warranty and now I have to pay another electrician to come and fix up his mess and then complete the original job.Side note: I notice a couple of glowing 5-star reviews on here happen to be from users with the same last name Loberg" as Kirk. Seems like everything to do with this guy is bogus."

I was having some issues with power in my kitchen, Kirk came over to take a look and quoted me a price before he started working on the issue. The price seemed a bit high ( not sure what he based his pricing on ). I mentioned this to him and he instantly lowered his price $100, which although still higher than I expected I decided to take a chance on. He does not give a hourly rate, he just bids per project.He took about 45 minutes to fix the issue, and charged us an additional $50 for as he said he needed a different breaker than expected. Less than a week later the same outlets stopped working again. I contacted Kirk again. Mentioned the problem was not fixed and maybe the breaker was defective. His answer was to call enmax, which I did they did a full checkup on everything and told me its an internal electrical issue. Once I told him this his response was its a new breaker

Kirk took over our basement project which had been abandoned by a previous contractor. He gave us a list of deficiencies that needed to be corrected to pass electrical inspection and then did the necessary changes.The inspection easily passed within a couple of days.I found Kirk to be a good communicator and fair and honest in his dealings with me.I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone needing professional electric work.
