I took some time to chat with one of the 2 guys who subcontracted with this company, and this company owes these 2 men $120K in back pay.I went to read through the reviews on this thread and all of the bad reviews come from sub contractors that are all owed money. I even read one on here that is from a property owner that has a lean on their property because this company was sued and they had to pay soube the amount they were quoted.Your dollar is an economic vote for this company to either keep up its terrible practices or go out of business. This van has been here the last 2 times I’ve visited the body energy club downstairs.

Fairtradeworks is working at 2566 west 2nd, Vancouver. They have once again ripped off the homeowner and not paid subs. We will be there to warn the sub contractors. People looking for money..please go too this site. We are owed 15k.

FRAUD!! FRAUD!!!FYI- Jim has multiple arrest warrants out for him for not showing up to court.I took (un)FairtradeWorks to small claims court for 3 unpaid invoices for work completed in 2021.Jim and his crew didn’t even bother showing up to court or even filing a trial statement.The judge ruled in my favour and ordered Fairtrade to make payment immediately.But I doubt I’ll get my money. These guys have had over 20 claims against their company since 2018!They should not be allowed to operate any business here.Please do yourself a favour and not do any business with them because you will NOT get paid after completing the work.Home owners please don’t hire these people. They lie and take advantage of other businesses.

Stay away! The owner (Jim Perkins) is a complete liar and does not do what he says he's going to do. Horrible to deal with. The company agreed to refund us $5,000 about 1.5 years ago. There was no disagreement about this refund at any time. After it was not paid back for months, we reached out to Fairtrade and no one would get back to us for months until we started to get more aggressive. The owner finally got in touch with us to tell us we'd get refunded the money and then he ghosted us again. Finally he agreed to refund us our money, but in weekly increments of $500, which is a pretty mickey mouse approach for what is supposed to be a professional business and paying back $5,000 should not be hard, but I thought hey, finally we'll get something. We received 2 payments and constantly had to follow up just to get our $500 a week and then nothing again. To date, we've received only half of what we're owed and are looking into taking them to court for the final amount. I would never deal with this company again. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Critical: Professionalism, Punctuality, ResponsivenessI'm disappointed to say that our company completed work for this company, but have yet to receive payment for our services. Despite numerous attempts to contact them and resolve the issue, they have not responded to my inquiries. I would caution anyone considering working with this company to think twice, as their lack of professionalism and failure to honor their financial obligations.My invoices from February 2022 still haven’t been paid by this company. Just want potential clients to be aware that this Company is a scam. The owner Jim Perkins has multiple lawsuits against him and his company.I would suggest not doing business with them if him if he reopens. Your job might get messed up, and he might Skip town taking your money and leaving you with unfinished work.Jim if your reading this. There is an arrest warrant being issued against you for skipping court

Jim and his team are great to work with! I've worked with them on a few projects and the project managers have always been great with their communication and works with me in problem solving any issues that come up on site. They were always able to bring my design into reality resulting in satisfied clients with great spaces!

If I could give zero stars I would - Like many other companies Fairtradeworks has failed to pay their outstanding debt going on a year now. Jim preys on small owner managed businesses. Will pay the first couple invoices and then ghosts you. Owes us 17k. Most dishonest construction company in BC. Nothing fair about them.

FairTradeWorks was excellent to work with. I hired them as a GC to manage a project for me remotely. The project was a demolition of an interior production space with some minor renovations, including multiple tradespeople. Several timelines and changes to the scope of work happened in a 3 month period, but the overall communication between Jim, his team, and myself were excellent and professional. Jim advocated repeatedly on our behalf with the landlord of the building, and with the trades.Anyone looking for a general contractor should definitely consider a conversation with FairTradeworks. It's well worth the time.

We're a personal training studio and we hired Fair Trade Works to do a tear down + renovation of our space. The people that we worked with was Sean & Ben. They were very accommodating with scheduling and took the time to understand our business and what we wanted to do. They also helped us maximize our operations during the renovation time, so we could keep a healthy cash flow. There were a few hiccups on the way, but mostly had to do with waiting for permits from the City. They were also very fair and were willing to negotiate with us when our budget was tight. All in all, it was a rewarding experience for us as it was our first time doing a large scale commercial renovation and we were pleased with the end result! Would definitely recommend these guys f you're a small business looking for someone to take care of your renovation needs.
