Otter Creek Awnings

Otter Creek went above and beyond for me this spring. My umbrella, which I bought from them many years ago, under different management, was in bad shape and had also been discontinued by the company. In spite of that, they took responsibility and fixed it for me in a timely and well done manner . . .and they did it with a smile. They are #1 in my book and would use them again in a heartbeat.

The fit of the awning to our deck was perfect, and the whole screen room looks like it was part of the original house. The framework is sturdy and handles both off-season winter storms and summer nor'easters, so we are very comfortable in sitting in our screen room watching the fierce storms blow around us. Overall a very positive and professional experience. Thank you Otter Creek!!

My awning was scheduled to be removed for the season, however Hurricane Ian hit while I was at my VT home. Here was my experience, and one I’ll always remember; Two young men walked to my back deck, and not knowing who the were, I asked. They told me the from Otter Creek Awning and before I could ask the question they said to me, “we saw the license plate (Florida) and would you like us to call the office and reschedule”. I said, ‘yes, please’. A few minutes later they came back and said, “no problem, we will be back in a week or two.”You see, I also live in Naples, Florida. And our region was devastated by hurricane Ian, and the OCA team had the front of mind awareness to realize I was still in VT because I probably couldn’t return to my residence in Florida. They showed sympathy, compassion and understanding that my deck and awning in VT was clearly a happy place for me during that troubling time. The OCA home office showed the same by allowing me to keep my awning up for a few more days and adjust a tight schedule to accommodate my need.It was truly an amazing interaction and the understanding shown by the Otter Creek Awnings team is something I will never forget. They had no idea how much it meant to me, and I will be forever grateful for what might seem like a small act of kindness to them, but was truly monumental for me in the wake of Ian. I am truly grateful from the bottom of my heart.Thankfully my home in Florida was mostly spared, but a 1/2 mile away my mothers was not. She was able to move into my home and be safe until I could return, and I was able to stay in Vermont and breathe at my happy place under my Otter Creek awning. What a wonderful group of people.

I love my sun room I had installed last year. I can have nice clean air in the room and into my house with out getting all the bugs with it!I sometimes wish I had gotten a heated one for winter....Beth was fantastic on giving me all the info and pricing. She and her crew of workers were all super! The work was done on time and with great care.Would have them back for other things in a heart beat....so if you need what they can provide, but all means call them .......

My Otter Creek awning, installed in 2012, is the best home improvement since I bought the house in the early 2000s. The awning has allowed us to use our sunny and hot deck in all seasons. It is a fairly windy location so we pull it in when winds are in the forecast. But we are still able to leave it extended 1/3 to shade the windows without wind damage.Last year, I noticed a couple of tiny frays in the fabric. These were not due to flaws in the fabric but likely due to hitting the awning with a ladder (oops). Otter Creek sent patches (clear adhesive, easily applied). You can't even see them and the fabric is protected. I thought I might need to replace the fabric, but a couple of patches did the trick. $$ saved.My awning is manually retractable. It glides in easily. But on one occasion last summer, it seemed stuck." I requested a service call

Very good product, but very poor follow-up by both sales and service teams throughout the planning and installation process. I reached out to the owners after several weeks of trying to work their employees, and while they apologized in general and corrected project mistakes and installation damage to the house, I left the experience having no confidence that another project with them would be any different. I will be using a different contractor for my next awning project. If you decide to work with this contractor, be sure to get everything (project plan specifics, warranties, schedule, etc.) in writing up front BEFORE putting down the 50% deposit, and plan on spending time project managing the details on a daily basis.

The owners personally came over to fix our awning they installed a year ago, within a day of asking. Very communicative and on top of service calls!

Very nice product. Customer service is terrible. Salesman and installation manager never contacted me. When I called, each one said they had the wrong phone #. Ordered in May, installed end of Sept. Got email at 8:15am telling me they were installing that day. Installers were here an hour later. The 3 installers were very polite and professional. Please return phone calls AND give your customers the consideration of an installation date.

We installed a large Gennius awning and a solar shade for our western-facing patio & deck. The process was relatively smooth from initial consults with Andrew to final install with Rene and the company was quick to fix a few issues that popped up along the way. Overall pleased with the customer service and the product.
