Sunshine Cove Cottage Resort

I do not recommend staying at sunshine cove cottage resort, especially if you plan on renting a boat. We stayed in one of their 3-bedroom cabins this past week and we were extremely unimpressed with the service we received. The owners took off on vacation for 3 days & the website is false advertising!! They mention that there are several things available on-site, but it is not actually on-site, it is about a 5 minute drive down the road at the gas station. The owners took off on vacation for 3 days with no notice to guests. During this time we required gas for our boat rental (which we were told was available on-site) and had concerns about oil in the motor and the battery. Once we were finally able to find one of the owners (2 days later), he checked the boat and informed us that everything was fine. The next day, we were left on the water with the boat not starting. Thankfully, we took the number of one of the other guests and were able to contact him to come and get us using his personal boat. We were then offered another boat (smaller & cheaper) and again, not able to get a hold of anyone in regards to compensation. In addition to false advertising, there is no sandy beach, the area for swimming is extremely weedy and not great for swimming. We were not really able to use our deck due to bugs, there was a lot (as expected at a cottage) but this looked like MONTHS of build up of dead bugs in the sliding door and windows. We will not be staying at sunshine cove again, nor would i recommend it. All around, not a great experience!

Best fishing spots are found right of the dock here! I heard about this place from Fish TV, and it didn't disappoint!! Whenever I go to Rice Lake I stay here, majority of season 3 of LondonUrbanFishingChannel will be shot from that location.

Had a wonderful day or Labor Day long weekend my husband and I and my little dog. She had a wonderful time The cottage Resort is wonderful has everything you need Cottages were very clean while kept. We will definitely go back soon Debbie and her husband Carl and their son Zack they are new owners and they they are very nice thank you again Debbie Carl and Zack for a great time I will highly recommend this Cottage Resort

EXCELLENT vacation. We were a little hesitant after reading reviews, however when we arrived last summer we quickly discovered NEW OWNERS. It was a wonderful week. The owners were very helpful, kind, accommodating & responded quickly to any concerns we had. They even opened for ice cream when my girls were craving it. The new owners are working hard to update the cottages & they are doing a great job. You can tell they are committed to making this resort beautiful. Excited to return this summer for another week!

Awesome holiday!I just got back from a week long vacation at this resort and I have nothing but positive things to say.We stayed in Cottage 7, and our friends rented out three other cottages. They were in great shape and were extremely clean upon arrival!The grounds are beautiful. The resort is kept neat and tidy. The grass is always cut, there are cute perennial gardens around the cottages, and the docks are beautiful!Though Sunshine Cove is a great place to relax, there are also many opportunities to keep entertained including borrowing a paddleboat/canoe/kayak, jumping off the dock, renting a boat, or singing around the community campfire.The owners, Randy and Susan go above and beyond to ensure a great stay for their guests. They are easily reached and available to help with anything you may need. One morning I dropped my sunglasses off the dock, and Susan (one of the owners) literally dove into the lake and scuba dived for them.** On a side note: After reading some of the comments about Susan I thought I should mention that I would disagree wholeheartedly. Not one person in our combined group of 30 had anything but positive interactions with her. The owners simply expect basic rules to be followed to ensure that the atmosphere at the resort is enjoyable for all. No reasonable person would have any issues with the owners.I had a great week at Sunshine Cove, and I can’t wait to come back one day!

Just came back from a fantastic week at Sunshine Cove. Big property with lots of things to do. Fishing, boating, swimming, badminton, horse shoes. New owners are very nice and are working hard to improve the resort. If your looking for a relaxing week at the cottage check out sunshine cove.

Carl was outstanding at meeting our needs. When we had issues with the boat he fixed it right away. He is very knowledgeable and has the tools and supplies on hand. Cabin was well maintained, up to date, and sealed up great to keep out the bugs. Fish cleaning shed is excellent and has a fish scaler to use on the panfish. Location is on a better part of the lake with plenty of updated dock space. We had a great week stay! Thank you Carl and Debbie.

This was our second year going to Sunshine Cove and both trips have been incredible. Susan and Randy do an excellent job making sure guests are taken care of and have an enjoyable stay. They are both very honest and upfront I would suggest to ask any questions you may have prior to your visit. It has a great atmosphere with other guests and a gorgeous view of the lake. Whenever we had any issues the owners Susan and Randy went above and beyond to make sure they took care of us to the best of their ability. Having such a great experience we have booked it again and can’t wait to go back!

Bad reviews are from the previous owner. This owner is very pleasant and accommodating. Just finished 2 weeks there and had a great time. Some cabins are more rustic then others - look through photos to find what you like.

Just got back from a weeks stay at Sunshine Cove and had a great time. Stayed in cottage 3 and rented a boat, both which were clean and running well. This is a small resort with 12 cottages, making it very cozy. New owners took over this year and are learning the ropes and doing just fine. They were always available by cellphone if we needed anything. They even went out to the middle of the lake to rescue one of the boaters. Don't know what the bad reviews were about because I can't say one bad thing about this place. We would definitely recommend this place. This is now our go to on Rice Lake.
