HONG DAE Korean Restaurant

After great anticipation of a local Korean restaurant near my neighbourhood, my family was so disappointed. I watched my wife eat her dish while I waited almost an additional 15 minutes for my dolsot bibimbap. And when my dish finally arrived, we were shocked at the presentation. Nowhere in Hongdae or any Korean restaurant was I ever served thawed frozen vegetables (chopped carrots and peas) as the main vegetable to my bibimbap. If the ingredients were out for the day, we should have been notified. Otherwise, it’s just a lack of 정성 and respect that typically goes into any Korean dish. And to pay over $20 for that made it all the more disappointing. Service could’ve been better. We witnessed another party leave before the food came out after no apology was provided by the staff for the delay. We will not be returning, nor will be recommending this place unfortunately.

We decided to try this new Korean restaurant and had an amazing meal. Appears to be family-run and servers were very attentive and friendly. We had the grilled mackerel + extra-soft tofu and seafood stew + not to mention the many side dishes (which they were very generous with). Look forward to trying other things on the menu!

Honestly didn't expect much as they opened recently but man was this a pleasent surprise. As a big Korean, I've been disappointed at 90% of the Korean restaurants in the GTA but I'm glad this placed opened up very close to me. Check out their grilled foods and the Kalbi Jjim. You can really taste the smoke from the grill and the food is seasoned perfectly. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to try out real Korean food.

We only ordered two dishes since we were not that hungry~ loved both(kimchi fried rice and fried dumplings) loved the taste, the kimchi has a rich flavour(sweet and hot) that was different from store bought for sure~ I like most of the side dishes so we ordered refill~ hope their good could maintain the same quality in the long run~

I love Korean food. I eat it almost every single time I decide to dine out, so hearing about this new location in my neighbourhood brought excitement to my ears.Unfortunately this might be the worst Korean place I’ve been to so far, considering the price, service and the quality you get with it.I understand that it’s new place, so I had patience…but when it comes to a point were you struggle to call waiters. I had to ask a waiter for a seat, and sit ourselves. They also are so difficult to call, tending to be more of a heads down keep busy mentality. It even came to a point in which we had to even ask for the side dishes (that are suppose to come before your meal) when they gave us our main course. We had waited that long to ask, long enough for the meals to be cooked. This wasn’t just an issue with our table but for other customers around us too. Some customers left without finishing their food. (This was Another couple who expressed dissatisfaction with the taste of the hotpot to the waiter)The food itself wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good either. The portions are small and the ingredients used in it are not great quality. I ordered a soy bean tofu stew soup that ended up being an onion soup.I wouldn’t recommend eating here, but if u ever do just bring cash to get 10% off. Save as much money as you can on this overpriced food.

My friends and I drove by and noticed this new Korean restaurant opened up so we decided to give it a try and we're so glad we stopped by!The place was busy but the service was really quick and excellent! The staff were all really friendly and the food was amazing!We ordered the pork bone soup with rameun, seafood pancake, seafood soft tofu soup, beef soft tofu soup, kimchi stew, and the dumplings.We definitely highly suggest you all to give this place a try!

My new all time favorite Korean restaurant. Being Korean myself, my standards for Korean food are higher than most but this restaurant makes delicious homemade food that reminds me of the warmth of a mother's cooking.

The food here was amazing! This has to be the best korean food I’ve ever had :)
