Clera Windows + Doors Bowmanville
We have extensive millwork around our windows and stucco trim on the outside. We were so nervous about replacing our aged and failing windows. Clera did a great job. The windows are beautiful, they were retrofitted without damage to either the inside or outside of our home and they cleaned up after themselves. I thought new windows were like getting new tires, necessary but no fun. I am happier than I imagined with our new beautiful windows. Alan and his team did a great job.

Waiting 6 months to have the job finished from May! Told they would be back the next week to install the hardware and another window. The longest week in history.

We did our research ahead of time and ultimately went with Clera for their positive reviews, but unfortunately haven’t had the same positive experience that others have attested to.We live in Northumberland County, Ontario. The Clera rep here was fantastic up until the date that the windows were officially ordered. In June 2022, we ordered 17 new windows and a large patio door.In the time between placing the order and the date of install, we were left with little communication and updates on timelines unless I initiated them. The windows were installed the week of May 1st,, 2022. We ordered black exterior with white interior, and they look fantastic. The issue is that our house is from the 60s and our walls are plaster. Clera never let us know that this could pose a problem, and without exaggeration, every wall around the window received significant damage that Clera took no responsibility for… including the ceiling inside our bay window that the window installer completely removed. The pictures attached are just small examples of the damage that every single opening had. I couldn’t believe that Clera would consider the state of my house a “job well done”. They offered no support in finding a contractor and no attempt at an apology… rather “that’s what happens when you try to put new windows in a house with plaster walls”. Not having experience in this area, I didn’t push back; however, everyone that entered my house seemed appalled at the state that Clera left the house. I had to hire an additional contractor to come in and repair the.Among this, other surprises included: the windows were being installed as part of the greener homes energy rebate (as was established with the rep on day one of the quote), yet the windows were installed without the stickers required by the program; the glass they installed in one window had a crack in it (noticed by the installer); and they did not include the locks for the patio door as promised. My issue now is the timeliness that these final pieces are being addressed (or not addressed, I should say). The windows were installed May 1st, yet the “next available date” to remedy the above was June 22 (which we agreed to), and at this point (July 17), none of the above have been completed yet. The rep has provided me email documentation with the window specs and my Greener Homes retrofit consultant says “hopefully it will be sufficient for the rebate” despite not meeting the requirements outlined in the program. Clera’s installer for the jams/trim has consistently been unable to come to the house. Never has any information been forthcoming by the rep regarding the timeline. We have adjusted work schedules and travel plans to accommodate the installer on 3 different occasions, only to find out each time (after WE reached out to the rep to confirm timing) that he has had to cancel last minute.Unfortunately, the head office has not been of help. I have left 3 voicemails asking to be called personally to discuss the last 2.5 months. I know the voicemails have been heard, as the rep has confirmed speaking to head office about this, yet head office has not made any attempt to speak to me personally and the rep continues to be unable to find any solution to have my job completed in a timely manner. This has been a “live and learn” experience as I paid, in full, in May after the majority of the job was complete. I surely will never do that again, as now I have no leverage on the company to get the job done and it is clear I am no priority for them… which ultimately is why I am leaving this review… to both allow consumers to make an educated decision in their purchase, but also to try to get someone’s attention that my job should be completed. In the meantime, I have resorted to finding a contractor to come and finish the job so I can be done with it.I will happily update this review when I can, but until then, that is my experience.
