Rockyview General Hospital Emergency Room

From the hospitals I've been in Calgary this is the one where I have experienced the rudest, careless and least compassionate treatment.I know how hard the job of the health workers is and I command them for their service. However, patients are in pain and they don't deserve to be mistreated. My wife was held hostage for 12 hours not only of senseless wait but also of rude and denigrating treatment. She ended up choosing to leave along with other 10 patients that waited for hours for nothing. The wait time has a justification, the rudeness and unprofessionalism doesn't.I haven't seen such a precarious situation in any other emergency room. Review your leadership and staff motivation. This is a serious matter.

Excellent customer service when I phoned the emergency room to talk to my husband who was waiting for almost a day to be served. Though, the wait time is very long, still they managed to address the call. Thank you so much.

I went in to this emergency room at around 9pm. I was brought through the admitting procedure quickly and I was impressed. Then the rest of the experience was not as good. The nurses, after getting me into the room, never checked on me - I was there for over 5 hours. The doctor was fantastic, the nurses were inattentive and were heard loudly conversing in the hallway about the way this hospital worked vs other hospitals they had worked at. Finally between 3 and 3:30 AM I was discharged and the nurse gave me a prescription - that wound up not even being made out to me. The majority of the rooms" I saw (I was moved 2 times during my 5 hours there) were converted patient rooms with 4 chairs that patients were expected to sit on while they waited. The nurses spent more time complaining about the jobs they had had than checking on or conversing with patients."

Worst hospital in whole Calgary!! They lost my blood sample!! Had to redraw blood. Do NOT go here unless you are dying! The wait times are much much longer than estimated wait times!! I had to wait 7 hrs!! You will come out of this facility in much worse condition than you go in!! Staff is rude, so crowded, small waiting area! Never going back here again!!

The main check in at Emergency is pretty good, chairs are spaced and processing and admitting to emergency is efficient. But then once you're sent to overcrowded Area A - look out! You are sitting extremely close to dozens of other sick people and their family/friends, some of whom are loud or listening to music or movies or are constantly on their phone. The staff do nothing in terms of crowd control (the old days when people had more sensibility are clearly long gone). The area is high traffic, tiny, bright, busy, noisy and almost fully unbearable when you're in misery, especially when you have to wait 3-10 hours to be seen by a doctor. One dirty bathroom for everyone to share - out of soap, out of paper towels, tap runs, toilet and floor filthy. This emergency is terribly overwhelmed. We need more doctors and nurses and support staff in this City.

They saved my dads life, and that makes them pretty great in my books. The ICU team here are amazing- educated, kind and will do whatever is necessary to help you. It might not be the nicest hospital in the city, but it most certainly has the best nurses and doctors.

I’m not going to say a whole lot. But I’ve only ever been terrified of one hospital which was Misercordia in Edmonton and I mean… they really know how to screw someone’s life up. It’s probably the worst hospital alive but RVG is right behind it. It sent my anxiety into overdrive, and I actually felt terrified. Sitting alone, in a room forgotten for 3 hours. Lesson learned - I’ll never choose a hospital based on the distance instead of quality. I went in, solely because the Health link said I should.

We walked in the Rockyview hospital yesterday at around 3pm were admitted around 345 into waiting room A. The wait times on the big screen said 3:08 hours so we were prepared to stay for the full 3 hours, however, I feel the wait times are misleading as it was already 830pm and when I asked the nurses how much longer it would be or what place we were in they said 7th spot. Basically that translates to another 2 hours mínimum so we simply left as my wife was feeling weak. All we needed was antibiotics.So just to clarify most staff are nice except for a feisty nurse that was defensive with everyone in Room A waiting room. Anyways my point is they shouldn’t mislead the patients on the internet or the tv board at entrance. It clearly states this wait time is from when you get admitted until you see the doctor. So for anyone reading this simply double that wait time that it misleads you with on the internet or the tv screen at the ER. I’ve always been a believer of under promise and over deliver. But it seems they do the opposite here.

No star at all.. they have emergency that let you wait forever and no doctor available. This is not a hospital. I think this is your last destiny to forever. I came at around 9 and it’s almost 12:30 pm no doctor showed or call
