COSTI Employment Services, Vaughan

Moving from Italy and starting a new life in Canada wasn't easy. When I found out about COSTI Vaughan and their services, and after a few workshops, job fairs and meetings with the awesome people that work there, I felt much more supported and recognized for who I wanted to be. They guided me and helped me believing again in myself, they unexpectedly landed me opportunities to Express myself and also perform at their Vaughan location more than once!Tejal, Eva and the others have always been very available with me weather on appointments or walk ins. We also produced business cards, resumes, and work opportunities, and always followed up to each other. When I didn't have much friends, motivation, inspiration, and strengthCOSTI truly became like home for me, and helped rebuild those connections in one of the darkest periods of my life.I'd definitely suggest visiting them if you're an immigrant, or in need of counseling and direction :)

I’d been looking for work on my own for a while and finding it extremely difficult when a friend recommended Costi to me. At first I was sceptical as I haven't had much luck with job agencies" but

Actually, it was the worst and the weirdest thing I have ever seen. At first, the counselor confirmed they have so many jobs and connections in the area as soon as they got my SIN number, they totally disappeared. Each 2-3 months she sends an irrelevant job posting and asks Are you interested" when I say yes

So at first, the staff were helpful. My employment counsellor was extremely nice and empathetic of my situation. I understand it's hard to customize plans for people who are job hoppers or experience certain circumstances in their life that hinder them from finding secure employment. The work counsellor was a kind lady. The career counsellor, on the other hand, seemed out of it; when attempting to register me for programs. She blabbed on for an hour and seemed not all there for some reason. She just assumed she could register me for all sessions without asking me for my permission. When I told her I have to look at my schedule and make sure which sessions fit in, she kept pushing me; saying if I was serious about employment, that I would just go to all these sessions and if I don't want to go, to just message her. So ever since, I've been receiving messages about sessions I don't reply to.

Took the resume course, LinkeIn course and others. It was a great help in finding work. Brian was in charge of my account and did an amazing job in guiding me. The instructors were also great and full of information.Without their help I was having a difficult time in landing a job.

Great programs, helpful staff, friendly environment:)They help you to build the confidence and motivation necessary to accomplish your goals as well as to gain essential knowledge and clarity to choose the right path.You find all sorts of support you need to find a job at no cost, they accommodate everyone from all ages, educational levels, ethnic groups and employment backgrounds so you'll get a true sense of diversity! There's also a nice lady who provides free immigration assistance.The employment workshops cover a broad range of skills including both basic and strategic resume writing, interview skills, essential soft skills, networking, social media, labor market research techniques, job seeking mindset and many more.There are also a number of extended programs such as Boot Camp" and "Life Success Skills" that assist you to identify your personality dimensions

I went to Costi to find help and direction in a new career. Brian Thomson saw me through from beginning to the end. From creating a resume and a job specific cover letter to job searching methods. He coached me on the proper tailoring of a resume to meet the highest number of potential applicants. He also personally contacted prospective employers to put me ahead of the hiring pool.He continuously followed up with me and offered guidance. I really felt that I was not alone in journey to find employment.Due to his hard work, I have recently found a position that meets the career goals that I was searching for. Thank you Brian for all your hard work and dedication to helping me find employment!

One of the most difficult challenges for someone who's new in Canada is finding a job. You're back to zero, have no friends, no contact persons, no connections. When I arrived here, I sent my resumes to a lot of companies. Nothing happened. Tried again. Still nothing. I wasted a lot of months waiting for the job offer that never came. Then I read about COSTI-Vaughan from a website. It's only a 15 min. bus ride from where I live, decided to give it a go and went there the next day. Then suddenly my life got busy! They suggested I attend their workshops (which are all free, as well their coffee!) about resume, cover letters, LinkedIn, Job search, etc.). I know, sitting on workshops and lectures for hours is difficult to do, especially if the workshops start in the morning. But I attended everything, endured, learned a lot and discovered I didn’t waste time! From Eva Traore, who welcomed and brought me to the COSTI family since day1, to Tejal Solanki who helped me a lot on various issues through the youth program, Adrianna Padilla and Sarah Wang for helping me build a really impressive resume, and especially to Terri Foley who guided me, mentored me, and helped me get my first job. Having her throughout my job struggles made me realize that going out of your comfort zone shall lead you to greater things. I wish I learned about COSTI earlier. If I have family or friends who'll come to work in Canada, I'll definitely recommend them to come to COSTI when they arrive.

One of the best decision I've ever made in my life was to visit COSTI first week upon landing here in Canada! I immediately had the support system I needed to start a life and career here. They have very appropriate sessions and programs that will surely help you land a job that fits your interests and passions. By applying the knowledge I got from the resume clinic and LinkedIn sessions, I immediately got calls from various employers. Eva Traore and her team at COSTI services were a tremendous help throughout my career process. They familiarized themselves with my situation, guided me in the right direction and motivated me to succeed. They were able to provide the necessary skills and knowledge in order to accomplish my career goals. The experience obtained during our meetings has allowed me to further my career and transform my identity as an employee.
