Excellent food. I don't care what anyone says it has authentic German food that tastes divine.

Sunday evening, 14 of us. Not greeted at door. Seated at table, 15 minutes before as what to drink. No water either. Drinks took 20 minutes. Waitress offered no specials or whether we had any questions. Two missed drink orders. Asked twice for water. Bread basket didnt have enought bread for number of people at table. Food arrived, it was the only thing that saved the experience. It was great.2 hours and 45 minutes was not what I was expecting dinner to take.5 stars for food , 1 for service.

Absolutely excellent home made authentic food. One of the best restaurants in Winnipeg for sure! The lunch buffet is our favourite.

I chose Gasthaus Gutenberger because it had consistently good ratings on various sites, but my experience did not live up to the hype. I reserved the semiprivate room for nine of us, and it was nice to be out of the way of the regular dining room. But either the room was too secluded, or the waiting personnel were under staffed (or both), because the service was terrible. It took at least a half hour before the waitress came to take our drink order. Several times we had to ask for an item two times before we got it. We were there for 3-1/2 hours and had to try to flag our waitress down through a doorway whenever she passed by, hardly ever glancing in our direction (this was very frustrating). The food was overpriced and mediocre at best.

Super restaurant. Authentic German meals. A wandering accordion player to add just the right amount of atmosphere. Lots of food, great ambiance, cozy, excellent service, wonderful prices, and friendly staff. A definite repeat will be happening.

The food here is just excellent. This is definitely one of Winnipeg's restaurant gems and without question the best German food in the city. Also, this is the only place I've found (since the sad closing of the Austrian Bakery that used to be next door to Deluca's) that does European" style tortes that don't overdo it on the sugar. Now

Good German food that really schmecks. Go for the lunch buffet on Sunday. Reservations recommended.
