Magpie & Stump Restaurant
Tried their rooftop patio and impressed with the art work. The rooftop menu doesn’t have much options than compared to their indoor. It’s not authentic Mexican but the food tastes just right. 4* due to limited menu. It’s a must try food stop in Banff. Thanks for having us!

One of my favourite restaurants in town, never disappoints with some great food not too sure if they still have peanuts shells on the ground but I love the vibes.The new rooftop patio is really nice, staff are very friendly. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re cruising around.

Date of visit: Feb 10, 2023Mexican food is one of our go-to choices whenever we dine out on vacation. So, when we saw a vibrant and lively Mexican restaurant in the heart of Banff, we knew we had to check it out.This place is very popular and is always packed – so be prepared for a bit of a wait when you come during prime dinner period. We got lucky and were seated immediately – but if we had been 10 seconds later – we would have waited because we got the last table when we arrived.The staff are very friendly, energetic, enthusiastic, and fun.We started with Margaritas – because – we have to – we had the jalapeno margarita, which was perfectly spicy and delicious – just what we had hoped for.Then we had the chips + salsa + Guac – the chips are made fresh- and came hot and crisp. The quac & Salsa were delicious and fresh.We had the tacos – which come with beans and rice.we ordered 3 different flavours – including bison, shrimp, chicken.They were very tasty.The price – because it is Banff and a touristy town – expect to pay a little more for that reason – but otherwise – it wasn’t too bad. It was a great meal -great service, great atmosphere, and so – for that – it is worth it.You will enjoy your visit to Magpie & Stump.

It’s one of many spots to try in downtown Banff. Large portions and quality Mexican food! Heads up the rooftop patio has a smaller menu (it’s like two restaurants in one). Eat on the first floor or street patio for the full menu. The nachos were 10/10!

Tried their ground floor menu. Delicious food and tons of vegetarian options. Friendly staff, cozy place and nice vibes! Must try if you're in the area. And yes, don't miss out on their drinks!

Can not say enough good things about this place. Been going for about a year now and it's consistent every time. Great Mexican food awesome staff and an absolutely amazing atmosphere. The G.O.A.T. Nachos used a pulled beef and are second to none. The drinks are strong and large. The Rooftop patio is great for those beautiful days. If you're in Banff this is a mist visit location.

Went on taco tuesday—food was awesome and presentation was great. Only complaint is that we were hoping our reservation would bring us up to the rooftop but we were brought to the dining room which is very much more of a bar feel. The group behind us did not have a reservation and was immediately taken to the rooftop with no questions asked—it seemed like the staff were friends with them based on their casual and familiar conversation. Hopefully I’m wrong and I will give them the benefit of the doubt but it still had me a bit disappointed by the end that we didn’t get a patio seat even with a reservation

This place is awesome!For starters the atmosphere was extremely fun. We had a large party and they more than accommodating putting us at the bar while we waited for a table. We had an amazing bartender named Sam who was very knowledgeable of the drink menu and was quick and accurate with the suggestions to meet the various tastes of the group.They have an impressive, extensive and delicious selection of tequila and margaritas options.The Mexican style menu was equally as vast and ultimately delicious. They had a couple interesting menu items that mixed Mexican with some classic Alberta foods (bison burritos). I would also recommend getting the GOAT nachos!Our server Ace was also top notch. Even despite the large group, the loud atmosphere and several in our group having food allergies he pulled off a flawless experience felt by all.

The place was bustling, and the atmosphere was lively. It has a rustic vibe to it, and it amalgamates very well with the Mexican theme.The service was spectacular, and the server was thorough with the table service. The food service was pretty quick, given how busy the place was.The food was a letdown. We ordered Heavyweight Nachos and Chicken Quesidilla. The nachos were lacking in cheese and other toppings (onion, tomatoes, and jalapeños). The quesidilla was lackluster with its flavor. There is huge scope for improvement in the food with respect to the quantity and taste. Visit this place for its awesome vibe, but don't expect much from the food.
