This place must have something sketchy going on behind the scenes to still be open or all these positive reviews are fuelled by the 10% off discount they offer for posting online. Either way, my experience here was so incredibly bad it was laughable. My partner and I reserved for their Korean BBQ. We've had plenty of great, affordable experiences in other cities that we were excited to finally have some close by. We show up to a near-empty restaurant at dinner time and the server (who didn't come over to greet me or offer water for 10 solid minutes of sitting down), gives me the menu. I was appalled to realize the BBQ was $120 for two people for only 400g of ribs!! When I asked the server if this was correct, she said, oh no, it's actually $165 for two now. My mouth dropped open. I didn't expect Toronto prices as I realize things are more expensive to import here, but that price is absolute insanity. No wonder they don't advertise the price online. For that kind of money, I'd rather go down the street to Portage or Terre who offer the whole restaurant package. Not a place that has two workers who clearly hate their job, a terrible atmosphere, and music that's so quiet, the random other patron's on-hold Telus music was louder.Moving on. I told the server I was sorry, but we were not prepared to pay that kind of coin for BBQ and asked to move to a regular table for some sushi. I had been eager to try it out anyway as we hadn't given Kimchi & Sushi a chance yet and wanted to see how it was. Honestly, the first red flag of not being offered water or a hello for 10 minutes should've been when we left to go find somewhere else to eat. But I was naively hopeful and wanted to be patient.First off with the sushi, it's grossly overpriced for the restaurant experience you're offered there. Twenty whole dollars for a dynamite roll? You're kidding, right? Anyway, I ordered it, thinking, well maybe the quality is worth the steep mark up. WRONG. The server tells me that half the roll options are unavailable, annoying, but I order the dynamite roll and a salmon roll. My partner orders a dynamite roll and a broccoli roll. At this point, no one else is here and no take out orders are picked up. We wait 20 minutes with no water refills or anything just for the server to come back out and tell me they're actually all out of salmon. Umm...what have you been doing for 20 minutes to JUST tell me this now? I order a tuna roll instead even though I was a bit nervous about the quality of the fish at this point. 45 minutes after we first ordered, our two sets of rolls come out and was presented well, so my hopes went up again. The tuna was fine, not great, so I ate most of it to not feel absolutely starved, but the dynamite roll was garbage. It was clear the rice was at least one day old from its stale, crunchy texture (gross) and the tempura tasted reheated and was dried out too. Store-bought, frozen versions from Dominion would've tasted better than it. I have never attempted to make sushi before even though I like to cook, but I can say with 100% certainty that I would've made a dynamite roll a hundred times better than what they thought was acceptable to offer and charge exorbitant prices for.To top it all off, when my partner went to pay, he said the first tip option STARTED at 25%. Yeah. Okay.Overall, a completely unhinged place with bucket loads of audacity. Do not believe the 4.4 star rating. I wish I hadn't.

The food here was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend coming here. I got a dynamite roll and chicken dumplings. The service was just okay. It was one man who was making the food and taking orders. He was very kind and sweet, but the service took a really long time. I would recommend this place if you have a little bit of time

Just not a very well run restaurant. Server is always a inexperienced nervous student. It has the atomsphere of a counter service place not a sit down restaurant, had to get up to ask the sever for our bill in the end. It wasn't until I ordered that we realised that the menu given to me wasn't marked with the sold outs" which is many of the dishes. I get that printing and laminating menus is probably expensive but if you are out of 5+ dishes on your already limited menu then you need to figure out some kind of solution. In the past the rice cakes I got here were fractured which seems to happen when they are stored frozen this destroys their bouncy texture and they fall apart in chunks easily. I've also had the Ramyun in the past and it was literally just a pile of overcooked noodles with a little red spice. Yesterday spicy pork and rice was not at all spicy. The food is just medicore to meh

Me and my girlfriend had the chicken curry and the crunchy roll and it was some of the best food I’ve had in St. John’s! My first time trying sushi at a restaurant and it was so good. The curry was slightly spicy and very flavorful I will definitely be back next time I’m in the area!

I really love this place and dishes! Be your guide with my Japanese friends. One of my friend found a piece in her soup, however, the chef came to sincerely apologize and treat her orders. And this is my fifth time to be here! Before I leave St. Johns~

What an excellent find! We stopped in after just wandering past. Did not expect it to be quite as delicious and memorable as it was. Now that I've seen the reviews and ratings I see we just came across a well loved place. It was early for dinner so we were served by the chef. He was so polite and humble. Going back and forth from server to chef, he did an amazing balancing act.The food was delicious. Its been days and my friend is still talking about it. Would definitely return if back in Newfoundland!

The food is really good, some of my favourites. The staff was friendly and very attentive. Only complaint is that they are often out of stock of some food items but that’s due to their popularity. Overall great experience, I love dining there.

Such a good Korean BBQ experience! The BBQ tables are amazing and although it is pricey, you get lots of food and definitely did not leave hungry. Free refills on your lettuce and rice, also came with green tea. Someone helps you with the grilling. Will definitely be coming back!

The food is not bad. I had the curry chicken Bento and it came with rice, salad, spring rolls and a few California makis. The latter is pretty fresh. There was just enough flavor in the curry, but the spring rolls were just a bit soft. Good place in general. The place is clean and seems recently renovated.
