I brought my truck in due to some leaks that could be very problematic but Dan got me back on the road that same day. He figured out what was wrong and just gave the engine a simple cleaning and was very informative as to what to look out for going forward and was very helpful with questions I had about further maintenance on my truck.I was also very pleased with being provided with a courtesy car while my truck was being taken care of. I definitely recommend Kern Motors, and now I know where I will be taking my truck for service and repairs in the future!

Was unhappy with my experience here, I was excited to support a local business and wanted to try this shop out to get some work done on my vehicle. The website says ‘free estimate’ I filled out the form and it was suggested I book an appointment. The estimate took about 20 mins I was quoted a price for brake and suspension repairs. As I went to leave I was handed a bill for $58 dollars, when I inquired about the free estimate the mechanic in an unhelpful tone told me the estimate is only for the online service. At no point was I quoted a price or told that there would be a charge for the estimate. Every other mechanic I have been to has either provided the estimate free of cost or has given an up front quote for the price of taking the vehicle in for diagnosis. I won’t be returning to the shop and would caution others against going here.

Dan Kern is Amazing! Just before closing time, I showed up ... my car was suddenly misfiring... in just a couple of minutes, Dan diagnosed the problem.... rats had chewed sparkplug coil wiring and connector...Dan immediately gave me a loaner car (it takes off like a shot - and I guarantee you won't be ignored on the streets)... I had my car back by mid-day today in great shape..The best thing about Dan is that I can absolutely trust him.... not only does he know what he's doing, his honesty and integrity are super evident...bottomline, he's just a really good Guy!!

Dan is the most honest mechanic around. His service is top notch. He knows his stuff and we have never been disappointed. He goes as far as taking pictures of broken parts and even shows us the parts he removes to replace. Where do you ever get that king of service? We have been taking all of our vehicles to Dan for years and now my children take their vehicles there! Exceptional!

Dan has been our family mechanic for years. I can vouch for his excellent work, fair pricing and reliability. He will not do work that is unnecessary and today, he wasn’t even going to charge anything for checking out a “check engine” light. He is definitively an honest and trustworthy guy.If you see a bad review from B.Stone, the text message that my car was “ready and ready to sell” was meant for ME but sent to the wrong number. Unfortunately, the recipient assumed that it was some kind of scam and left a nasty and undeserving review for this business.

I took my classic 1987 944 Turbo to Kern Motors to have a look over the engine and see what work might need to be done in terms of priority. While they were unable to help me due to availability (or lack thereof) of parts, they were so kind and professional and lent me a loaner car so I didn't have to cab it back to Nanaimo. Dan even dropped my car off at my house, spoke to me about some of the work that needs doing and sent me some photos he had taken of the undercarriage. Despite all the time lost, they didn't charge me a dime. That shows a serious commitment in customer service and I would not hesitate to take one of my other cars there when they need servicing.

I purchased a used (2003) vehicle from Dan about a year ago in 2020 during a time that I had no way or time to even inspect or test drive first. I had to trust that this would be a good vehicle for me and my family without knowing Dan at all.Dan was very nice to work with and went out of his way for us. He even was able to have the car delivered to our house via BCAA. I immediately took the vehicle in for a checkup, after my purchase and there was nothing at all wrong to be found. I replaced the tires and have since taken it to another mechanic* and still no problems at all. I would (and have) definitely recommend Kern Motors as a fine and trustworthy mechanic.*(just due to living far from Kern Motors that I've taken it to a different mechanic).

I’ve gone to Kern Motors for all the work on my Mazda 3 and every single time he’s been so accommodating, so quick, always efficient and polite, and does great/solid/reliable work. I always leave feeling like I paid a fair price and that I can trust him. As a woman that’s not always the case when you go to mechanics which is why when I first went to KM after my clutch went unexpectedly I knew I’d go back again and again. Great all around! Highly recommend.
