Bowness Arts - Board Game Cafe, Vinyl Records & Books

The vibes are immaculate!! Upstairs you have a small cafe and candy shop area where you can rent board games to play in house while enjoying a bevvie, or purchase to bring home. Downstairs is a magical land filled with every second hand record, movie, or game that you’ve ever wanted. Not to mention the back room filled with hundreds of second hand books to add to your personal library. Truly a gem in the heart of Bowness!

Absolutely wonderful! Staff member was so helpful - even took the time to teach my son how to play Magic. The beer selection was pretty good and coffee was tasty. Will definitely be back. Thanks for a super fun afternoon.

Always loved the bookstore but the new game store is especially our jam. They are super patient with explaining games, even with kids around. The owner took the time to dive into Pokémon cards with my 7 yr old and made her feel so welcome she was raving about the experience. We will be back many times.

We went to see this place as it just opened recently. It's cool how there are several businesses there that offer stuff to do. We played games and tried a bunch of the candies, everything in that sense was great. Only issue was there were 2 other customers there taking forever looking through cards and since there was only one staff we waited 15 minutes before we could order candy. Totally fine if it was busy, but I wish the fellow would have excuses himself from the other folks (who didn't even buy anything in the end) to help us out since we only needed 2 minutes.

Spent a really fun afternoon at the boardgame cafe (we played Terraforming Mars). The vibe is great and the owner is super friendly. Tables are $3 per person per hour and they have a decent rental games collection for all ages and skill levels (see photo), and a good selection of games to buy. You can also bring your own games or play tabletop/card games etc. They also have daily events, including free rentals on Tuesdays, as well as MTG, and Pokemon TCG nights.Tea, coffee and hot chocolate are really reasonably priced, and they have a big selection of candy including a pick 'n' mix bar. They have exciting plans for the near future, including food by the Magic Pantry (previous occupants of this store), doubling their boardgame rental collection, and getting liquor licensed. In the meantime, for there are some awesome local restaurants within walking distance.The store is split into the boardgame cafe, which has the boardgame store, rental collection, and tables. Next door is a cute arts, books and vinyl store. Haven't checked out that side yet but will do next time!

Dropped in the store after caving into my curiosity, and I was pleasantly surprised that the store carried Magic the Gathering and other TCG supplies!Nick was really friendly and the fact I live so close, I know I will be visiting as often as I can.The store was very neat and tidy, and the shelves looked well organized. I'm looking forward to visiting again soon!

Always been a great shop, but the new board game cafe addition is a great way to use the space leftover from the magic pantry (still a little sad to see them go). Definitely bringing friends here for board game nights!Really handy that they allow you to bring your own games since most people don't have tables at home to fit all of Frosthaven

Absolutely fantastic place! Pre-ownedand new books, movies, games, records, CDs and even VHS - decent selection in every category. The owners and employees are friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to help/provide excellent customer service. They are often willing to bring in someone you are looking for and will call to let you know it's in stock. I love supporting local small businesses and this one does not disappoint for service, quality, and inventory options. I highly recommend stopping here first for any of those needs before checking other retail locations.
