Rendez-Vous Ethiopian and Eritrean Restaurant
It was my first time trying Ethiopian food and I had the most wonderful experience at Rendez-Vous. We got the two meat and two veggies platter which you can see looks like a feast! Our group really enjoyed the food and the flavours were so wonderful. The restaurant had a great ambiance too, complete with beautiful background music and great service. We also got the Ethiopian coffee and watched the coffee ceremony. Our server roasted the coffee beans on a pan next to us and the aroma filled up the entire space. The coffee itself was very delicious. Even though we had it at 9 pm, we had no troubles falling asleep. Will recommend to anyone.

Not a good experience here. On a weekend at lunch, literally no one else in the entire restaurant. Yet the food still took a long time to come. I got the cha cha which was charbroiled beef and my friend got some 3 meat plate. The cha cha beef was straight up burnt. It was more well done than well done. Some pieces were inedible charred meat bits. While we were eating they started lighting incense or some sort of scented fire right next to us on the counter. Again, literally no one else in the entire restaurant so not sure why they did that… This caused our area to smell very strongly of smoke. Not sure why it’s so highly rated but there’s plenty of better Ethiopian spots nearby.

We were a part of 40 plus and Beti (not sure spelling) our server was amazing. She handled everybodies order very well and it was a smooth process. Food took a while but that's understandable considering how many of us there were.Definitely recommend the food, it was my first time trying Ethiopian food and I got the veggie platter which was amazing. All the different curries were very tasty as was the injera. The coffee ceremony was interesting too and they brought out a pan with the beans toasting in front of us. I didn't realize that its meant to be shared (2-4 ppl) not just for one. And it felt a little rushed but that was probably because of how busy it was.The one complaint would be that 20% auto gratuity was added, but they didn't inform us, so ended up tipping double.Would definitely go back for the food and service. Thank you guys!!

My experience at this restaurant is a mixed feeling. While the food tasted great, the lighting was very dull. We couldn’t see what we were eating. I have been to totally dark restaurants that really enhance your other senses and such. But you walk in for that experience and you are informed and prepared for it in advance. Such wasn’t the case here. Also, felt the place is under staffed. The place was pretty full and only 2 people were handling everything, this impacted the service. Could have been a great experience but turned out otherwise. With respect to quality of food, it was just great! The food was fresh and tasted delicious. The quantity is generous as well.

Delicious food, great vibes from the atmosphere but more importantly the staff working. Know their menu well and fell in love the moment I entered from the deliciously intoxicating scent of the food and roasting coffee beans. Will definitely be back soon!

Friday, September 16, 2022Tonight we were a party of 5, three of whom had never tried Ethiopian food before. They loved it. We all loved it.Not only was it delicious, it was also presented so beautifully! And the roasting of the coffee beans right at the table after the meal was the perfect way to end our visit.Good ambience with smooth jazz lightly playing in the background, there was nary a seat to be had when we left around 9:20pm.Wonderful staff! So friendly and willing to answer our questions (of which we had a lot)!If you haven't been there, you must go. A treat is waiting to be had!

I like the fragrance in this cozy place, but perhaps it should be a little less intense because it made it harder for me to detect the smell of the food and drinks. Additionally, a dim lighting in the interior prevents you from fully appreciating the cuisine. We ordered a vegetarian platter, the food was served lukewarm, the taste was bland and unremarkable. Overall, while the atmosphere was pleasant, the mediocre food would prevent me from returning or recommending this place to others.

If you've never eaten African food, Ethiopian cuisine is a great starting point, it's not spicy, has flavour and comes in generous portions.Rendezvous is fun hangout that serves a great selection of Ethiopian food, most of the dishes are a mix protein, vegetables and healthy serving of Injira bread. I like the lamb they serve, it comes in sizzling and has a lovely layer of charring.Note that Ethiopian food is eaten with your hands but the staff will given you cutlery if you desire! Overall had a lovely time, definitely recommend!
