James The Sweep

I do not understand the negative reviews below. We have used James for a number of years. He is polite, helpful, and clean and conscientious around the house, arrives on time and does a great job. He has also given us great (free) advice on fuel and how to light fires etc so that we only need to clean our flue annually rather than 6-monthly, and on this latest visit he also carried out a repair for free. I don't see what more you could ask for in return for £60! I think it's really unfair when people leave ridiculous reviews about small, local businesses just because they are in a huff. Looking below at some of the reviews: burning treated railway sleepers indoors is just daft, and having chatted to James, some of the reviews about him not showing up are clearly not true - you can see from the pained way James talks about them that he is the one telling the truth. I would highly recommend James.

Agree with the previous reviewers who said that the customer service is rubbish. We had James booked to come to ours in November. He never showed. When I called to enquire what had happened I was told that when he arrived no one was home, which isn't true as I had waited at home all day. Our home is difficult to find but I had sent instructions and never received a call for clarifications. The office never called back to re-book or offer any kind of apology. Look elsewhere.

We have used James previously, as well as on this occasion. He clearly knows his business and his advice and expertise has been invaluable in helping us get the best from our stove and avoiding problems. James and his staff are pleasant to deal with and are always friendly, reliable, professional and fair. We would not use anyone else and are happy to recommend James and his team to anyone needing their services.

Max was really responsive on emails and arrived bang on time for our appointment. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Quick cleaning service and also signposted me to other businesses for chimney pot repairs /removals as well as general info on wood burners and chimney maintenance. Great service- will definitely recommend and be using again. Thanks!

James and Max are true professionals and good guys. My old chimney was cleaned carefully and tidily to an excellent standard. I am very happy with their service and would recommend to anyone. Thanks very much! Adam Ross.

Although I’ve not been able to use James’ services, whenever I have enquired I have been responded to in a friendly, professional and timely manner! I always think of James the Sweep first if asked for recommendations.

Waited a month for my appointment. I had a text the day before to remind me. On the day the chimney sweep arrived at the wrong time even though it had been arranged a month before. Michelle Seymour admitted that it was her mistake but because they were busy they couldn't come back until Janary 2016 which is absolutely no good. Rubbish customer service. Mistakes happen but it is how they are dealt with which is the most important and unfortunately this needs to be learnt by Michelle.

James called twice to clear my flu, sadly he wasn't successful. Subsequently I managed to clear the blockage and called him to give the flu a quick sweep, after leaving about 15 messages on his answerphone I am still waiting for a response. He has either gone out of business or is just ignoring me. Sad because I still paid him even though he wasn't successful in clearing the flu. Rod Smith

Arrived on time and first impressions are that James is very professional and friendly.He knows his trade, sorted out the chimney, gave me good advice about not burning the wrong stuff... pallets, treated wood and green wood.Feel confident my chimney is safe and I have received great value for money. Booked again for next year.

I can highly recommend James the Sweep, they were prompt, polite and efficient. My room was left very clean and tidy, James seemed to me to be very knowledgeable about his job and gave me some good tips.I wouldn't hesitate to use these guys in the future, as I thought they were good value for money.Thank you James the Sweep!!
