Everything is delicious, the only surprising thing was the sign outside, it says enchiladas as a special for Sundays, and that's what made me go inside but the current menu doesn't have them :(

Took a co-worker and tried this place out. I am not familiar with Cuban food but what I had was very tasty and generously portioned. The serving staff was very friendly and helpful. It's a small place and I think it will fill up fast once the locals get to know it. Would highly recommend it and will be going back very soon.

The food was delicious! I devoured it in moments. I just ordered to go because I was in a rush but it was really more impactful to my taste palette than I was expecting. Would definitely recommend to give it a try.

Great home made food, very friendly service, I had a lunch there with a friend whom I haven't seen for a long time. We spent there over 3 hours and we're welcome to stay that long, even provided more and more water after the meal. Very friendly, great prices for the food. Definitely will be back there again! I wholeheartedly recommend this place!

Ever since our visit to Pambiche in Portland a couple of years ago, we’ve been searching for a good Cuban restaurant in Vancouver. The problem is that the extent of most Cuban dishes here is usually just a Cuban sandwich. Sure, there’s a few good Latin restaurants here… but nothing that is decidedly as good as the food that we had at Pambiche. After hearing about a tiny little shop called Varadero Cafe on Commercial Drive, I’ve been meaning to give this place a try. Cuban food usually gets a rap for being a bit bland but I think it comes down to what you wind up ordering. We started out with a couple of Empanadas ($3 each). These hot pockets of freshly fried dough (we picked beef and veggie) were light and crispy on the outside and wonderfully flavourful on the inside. I could probably pop a half-dozen of these without a problem. The Bistec Encebollado ($12.50) is a dish of thinly sliced and grilled marinated beef steak that’s been sautéed with garlic and onions and served with Congri (similar to Moros y Cristianos) which is a mix of black beans and rice. As expected, this is a very filling dish when you factor in the fried plantains and the rice and beans. However, most of the flavour is found in the garlic and onions which adorn the thin beef steak. The Arroz con Pollo ($12.50) is a dish of garlic fried chicken and rice with bell peppers and onions. I actually really liked the rice in this dish as it had a good amount of flavour to it.It wasn’t very busy at this tiny little cafe but there’s some good options and I would definitely come back for the empanadas.

Really cute cozy family restaurant. The interior design gives you Cuban vibes. The food was fantastic, especially the ceviche(highly recommend 10/10). Portion sizes are worth their price. It may be a little slow, but you gotta realize that the restaurant is run by 2 people (i assume family members).

The lady who made this sandwhich has no customer service. Did not even slice the sandwhich neither did she ask me if i had a preference in the drink that came with the sandwich. The sandwhich i was hoping would atleast be better than the service. I was wrong worst cuban sandwhich i've ever had. The bread was old its not fresh it was hard i could not even bite into parts of it cos it was hard and dry. The meat was dry and was not fresh definatly not worth the price.
