We recently went through the process of getting a quote with Penguin Basements and I wanted to share our experiences. In full transparency, we did decide not to proceed with the renovation as we felt it was no longer in our best interest to take on the additional financial burden at this time. We were able to speak with Guy, who is the General Manager, who was more than willing to go above and beyond in making time for us to discuss the process at length and address any questions or concerns we may have had. He was supportive, transparent, and took the time to ensure we had all of the information to make an informed decision while supporting us wholeheartedly in the decision to push our renovation to the future. We were able to see first hand how Penguin Basements operates and we feel comfortable returning to them, when the time is right, to have our basement completed.

When we decided to get our basement finished, we looked at a few different companies, but after a call with Guy we were sure Penguin was the right company for us.With a very straightforward process, we were able to get a general design mapped out in our initial call with Matt. Further modifications were done with Jordan, after measurements were taken, allowing things to really take shape. Stephanie really helped us with the design, giving us the right flooring and paint options to give us the fresh, modern look we wanted. Plumbing and electrical work was done to a very high standard. Inspections were passed without issue.The part of the process which really stood out for us was the framing and drywall. Filipe and Eyal worked incredibly hard to finish that part of the process in record time and to a very high standard. Filipe was instrumental in ensuring the final layout really maximized the use of the space, especially with what could have been an awkward entryway.A special thanks to Josh who came in near the end to take care of the few outstanding issues so we could have our basement in time for Christmas. Our kids were extremely happy about that!Thanks to Penguin we have the basement we wanted - a beautiful, bright and modern space which perfectly suits our needs.

We contracted Penguin for our legal basement second suite. They handled all the permitting for us, and communication was excellent throughout the job. No reno goes 100% according to schedule (especially during COVID!) , but they were responsive and handled all the hurdles throughout the process. The finished space was gorgeous, and we got a great rate on our rental.
