The staff was so kind and helpful! At intermission, the woman's restroom line kept moving the entire time you waited. They had staff helping call out open stalls and it was the fastest ladies line I've ever been in, I was impressed!! Great theater, full of artwork and history.

Gorgeously restored opera house. Wonderful, old architecture. Great acoustics, which is important for any such venue designed for performers to reach their audience. Just a beautiful place to enjoy a performance. And I did say restored. This does mean that you are not getting a memory foam, reclining chair.

I loved how easy it was to buy tickets plus I was able to buy parking at the time of the tickets purchase. I love the Detroit opera house and I have so many memories of being there with my family. However the building is becoming dated and paints chipping everywhere in the actual theater. It's in need of a face lift but it doesn't take away from the amazing experiences and shows they have.

I just watched Beetlejuice, and it was awesome! The whole building is beautiful. The chairs in the box seats could use a repair or refresh on the seats. If you get box seats, bring a pillow. Ha ha

I attended a performance of Beetlejuice: The Musical and it was an absolute blast. The cast was amazing, and the Opera House is a gorgeous venue with great acoustics. I was seated in the balcony but the view was great and I was able to see the majority of the stage, save for a small part of stage left that was obscured from view due to the seating angle. Beetlejuice was a wonderful show, with great music and hilarious jokes, but it was definitely not a kid friendly performance. There was a healthy amount of swearing and adult humor in there, but not to the point of excess. Some of the adlibbed jokes by the actor performing as Beetlejuice were absolutely hysterical (the ‘sad puppet show’ was a standout lol!). The girl who played Lydia was amazing too.Theater staff were super friendly but getting help to find our seats was a bit tricky and my mom and I got a bit lost at one point trying to figure out where to go. My only other complaint was that during pre-show and intermission there was a moving stage/scenic light that shined up into the balcony and right into my eyes which was rather uncomfortable. Otherwise it was a wonderful experience and I would gladly return to the Opera House for another show in the future. The theater itself is absolutely beautiful with gorgeous architecture and lavish red and gold decor.

Arrive early. Park next to Opera House $30, but use parking structure $20. Don’t forget where you parked your car. The beautifully ornate, historical and chandelier lit Opera house resonates of ages past and the numerous artists, shows and presentations that wowed and affected audiences on a continuous basis. The show Alvin Ailey Dance Troupe full of 20 and 30 somethings, danced and flowed to ancient and historical rhythms. No one had seen arrangements like this before and Alvin Ailey revolutionized the modern dance world. Another FIRST in the annals of history in yet another institution. Entertaining, well presented and formatted, THE ALVIN AILEY DANCE TROUPE is an historical, awesome company, world renowned with a large following fan club. There wasn’t enough merchandise and many people were unable to buy the Alvin Ailey merchandise. The performances, the dancers, the choreography, the emotions, at times were spell binding. The music, vocals combined with the twists, turns and excellent dance moves could move one to tears but no, I didn’t cry. Routines from the 1950’s to present were performed. Wonderfully refreshing to see a multi-aged audience with a representation of our diverse USA. A well deserved standing ovation at the Finale brought the dancers back out for an extra five minute treat. Alvin Ailey keep coming back to the “D” is the request, after a three year absence. “Dance on.” We couldn’t take pictures of the performances, my apologies.

Came here to see Beetlejuice and it was great! A little confusing when everyone was waiting for the doors to open to find their seats and sit down because the hallways are so narrow. But other than that, the theater itself is quite beautiful and the acoustics are good. Even sitting pretty high up, you have a good view of the stage and can hear everything clearly. Staff were very nice and helpful with helping us find our section.
