My wife and I have had the pleasure of sending all four of our boys to Robert Land Academy. The misconception of this school is that it is a place for only struggling children. However, that is contrary to the reality since our boys were not really in that category. We just felt that discipline was one of the main criteria for students to succeed in life. Therefore, the decision to send them to this particular school was based on the schools' principle of structure, discipline, routine, and ability to help struggling students and students with learning difficulties excel to university level. The teachers and staff played an integral part in the students' development; they were engaged in the growth and maturity of the students. The quality of the teachers and staff was outstanding as many of them had some form of military background. As a result, the calibre of education was very high as the teachers and staff seemed to adopt the same principles that focused on service, duty, accountability and responsibility. Students and parents may be challenged by the old-school, tough-love method of education that has been applied from time to time; however, the wisdom in these methods worked. The knowledge and understanding used by the teachers and staff helped to set the foundation and expectations for the school. Also, the advice given was genuine, and measures were taken not to deplete the quality of the students' character. There was a great diversity of students from around the world, helping to bridge the social and cultural gaps and establish lasting friendships between many of the students. The school presented a lot of opportunities and diverse activities such as sky-diving and deep-sea diving. In addition, the students went on many character-building trips such as fall-x and the New Mexico death march. They also partook in disciplinary life skills that are often taken for granted, such as making one's bed, keeping personal space tidy and shining shoes. As a result, RLA fashions boys into confident young men and help them achieve educational excellence while cultivating leadership skills. All of our boys did very well at RLA; they adopted superb study skills and work ethics, they all left with outstanding grades. They are well mannered, strong-minded, confident young men. We highly recommend this school to all those looking to develop an excellent foundation for their son's.

An amazing environment for young men aimed at challenging their limits and unlocking their full potential. To achieve these successes, the Academy takes the best practices of military culture and combines it with a supportive environment and personalized attention. The education receive is well rounded, not merely academic, but social and emotional as well. Cadets learn the ever so important soft skills so lacking in the workplace today. Leadership, work ethic, time management, teamwork, resiliency, accountability, communication, and problem solving are but a few of the many traits that are nurtured at the Academy, which, when combined with their “Academic” education will provide them with a future full of opportunity. I was a student some years ago and it literally changed the course of my life. It can for you to!

Played against their basketball team...good experience. Their team was courteous and displayed the highest level of sportsmanship and discipline while playing well. Speaks volumes about the school. Great to be playing where the goal is to play a great game!

My son has been at RLA for several years now. Captain Bowman has been instrumental in my son's success. There are so many wonderful role models for the boys working at the school. Thank you RLA for helping him reach his full potential.

Very professional and caring staff and teachers. They really work with every student to help them realize their full potential. It is such a great change from the public system in the Greater Toronto Area. Finally a place where my child is safe, encouraged to develop a good work ethic and building confidence based on truly earned rewards.

It is best to have your child enroll in local cadets first to see how your child responds to military “theme” before even considering this school for your son.We did , and it still didn’t work out. This school is not for every child. Although I agree with some principals of the school , I do not agree in the entire approach as it has psychological impacts on young boys due to disciplinary environment and severe cut in communication with family and home. You speak to your child like they are in prison. Once a week for 10 minutes . It is a residential - detention school, simply put . This school should not advertise as a school for boys with ADHD , ODD , ASD or behavioural problems - they do not approach these issues in a therapeutic manner, it is a very disciplinary and rigid approach . I strongly consider more therapy based approaches or types of residential setting such as Venture Academy before even considering Robert Land. Also this school is not for boys with concerning mental health conditions. It can make their mental health conditions considerably worse. Some staff were very good and meant well , some were not there to help these boys, only to discipline and lacked empathy and compassion for young kids

My son is currently in his third year at this school. It's awesome. So glad we found this place! Lots of discipline, lots of structure for sure. But what I appreciate even more is the genuine care and concern for my boy that I sense from all the teachers and staff whenever I speak to them. They know boys and they are passionate about seeing boys develop and mature well. My boy has a lot of challenges and struggles. Many schools would have given up on him long ago. Not RLA. They willingly take on his challenges and, slowly but surely, we're seeing some wonderful results. We're not rich. Financially it's been a struggle but this is money very well spent.
