Long Lake Waterfront Bed and Breakfast
This was the most disappointing place we have ever stayed. The only part of the place that was even slightly the same as the web site photos and other booking sites photos was the view of the lake out of the window. Even this was marred by the giant reindeer ornament that was lit up right outside our window (it's July, Xmas decorations at this time of year are just a no go for an ostensibly 5 star place) which spoiled the sunset view.THE ROOM: The room we stayed in did not have a 4 poster bed with flowing draperies, the bed linens had an odd smell and were not particularly nice, the bed was so loud when turning over we never slept soundly, the wicker chairs at the glass table in front of the window were broken (and the lovely glass table you see in the photos which lends an airiness to the room was covered with a really bad table cloth), mold in the shower, a grubby looking sponge with dish soap in a container by the sink for washing dishes (and the container also had a used bar of soap in it for hand washing - found it under the grubby sponge - yuck), cotton swabs and cotton pads presented" in plastic bags under the hair dryer when there were acrylic containers for these which would have presented better

Amazing place for a great price. I'm very iffy on staying at B&B's, but this place is gold. It doesn't even feel like a B&B. I stayed 4 nights and wished I could have stayed longer. Beautiful location, the views are amazing and Rebecca is such a sweet lady who really takes care of guests. Plus the breakfasts are incredible. Free access to kayaks and a canoe is a bonus. Thank you for such a wonderful time. I highly recommend this place for a nice getaway.

Every moment of our stay was fabulous. We loved our view, breakfast was wonderful and we loved our suite. This is not a 5 star hotel, it’s an B&B on a lake. Exceptional value for your money. Wonder hosts. We will be back.

Long Lake Waterfront Bed and Breakfast
I can’t believe all the good reviews that people have written about this place. The decorations were the most bazaar things ever. The common room still has a Christmas tree and gigantic snowman up and it’s the end of June big red deer on the lawn and Christmas lights are still on display. Ridiculous for a summer holiday. They really need someone to come and design this place as the location is awesome the decorations are awful.

Room and amenities are amazing, the view from our suite of the lake was spectacular and having access to the kayaks and paddle boards was a suburb bonus. The only complaint we had was the breakfasts. We were expecting western style breakfasts and were sorely disappointed being served salad rolls and hotdogs for breakfast.

Please note, I ALWAYS try to write the best review I can as I trust those that write for the rest of us. The ONE BEST thing about our stay (July 2022), was the gardens and the location - absolutely beautiful. It is our understanding that the new owner, Si, has owned this B & B for just over a year. He DOES not live on site and in fact, lives in Victoria, over 1.5 hrs away. His brother, wife and child live there, they do not speak English well but were very kind. The past owners obviously took a lot of pride in the B & B as they built what it is today. Sadly, it seems as though the new owner doesn't take the same pride. We had the largest of the three suites (but did meet the other two couples staying there & they had similar issues). It was VERY hot during our stay, thankfully there is AC.We had a few issues which we brought to Si's attention when we checked and he basically said 'thank you for the feedback, we will use to it improve future guests stays,' but he did not remedy the issues.A few things we experienced and a few things to share with those considering this B & B:This should be an AirBnB - because of the difference in culture (I do not blame those looking after us for this, but the owner should know better), the breakfast was not what you would offer in Canada.... Hot dogs cooked in a frying pan, chicken soup, sweet toast, fake eggs... The one thing that was nice, was a small bowl of fresh fruit. No juice, cream for coffee, no cereal, etc.If he moves to an AirBnB, then provide some proper kitchen basics.... We had a couple of pieces of mix matched cutlery, no paper towel, no tea towels, no glasses at all even although there is a very small kitchen. The hot tub - had an out of order sign on and looked like it had been there a while. Perhaps let your guests know this as this is one reason we stayed. Si said nothing even after bringing this to our attention. The bathroom was not very clean when we arrived and there was still toothpaste around the sink, I cleaned before we used it.The mini bar fridge had SO MUCH ice built up on it that you couldn't put anything in it, including ice. Again, Si said, 'I will tell my brother,' but nothing changed. The bed was comfortable and there was a closet but no drawers for clothes (we travel light). The décor, well, it was something else, some curtains were facing out, some in and with a little attention to detail, this stuff could look great and not thrown together. There were $ store flowers everywhere with the $ store tags still stuck on them; I have no issue with the $ store, but try to tastefully decorate.Cost - WAY over priced for what you receive. This is NOT a place for elderly folks to go and certainly NOT those with big suitcases, you have to turn sideways to get between the garage and the path to take you down the LONG stairs as there is a grotto walk through, a large suitcase on wheels would not fit.Garbage and recycling - there is NO indication where or how to sort garbage and recycling, this is important in today's world. While we did enjoy our stay for the most part, I am glad that I booked this in 2021 for our son's wedding in Nanaimo at the old rate (which Si honored) as had we paid the regular new updated prices, I would have been VERY disappointed.A little pride in ownership goes a long way, understanding the culture and food in the country you host a B & B would go a LONG way for the guests staying there. It simply should not be a B & B, but if it becomes an Airbnb, then more amenities must be added to the tiny kitchen.Lastly, there was a brand new beautiful BBQ in the common patio area by the lake that we all assumed we could use, however, when the other guests asked if it was ok to use it (and they had brought BBQ food), they were told by Si, it was not for guest use.If you consider this place, know the owner doesn't live there and actually didn't seem to care about any of our concerns other than a few extra towels.

Avoid! I don't write negative reviews unless necessary. On first blush, things looked good, if not a bit odd, with the fake flowers and all. However, the breakfasts were not good, to say the least, as the other reviews note. And, with a power outage, the help we received was laughable at best, with the manager who lived upstairs giving us one tea light candle. The main reason for this negative review is that the jacuzzi tub was mouldy and should have been cleaned. The prices is high. Also, the bed and pillows make it challenging to sleep. And to other reviews, the management is different from what it must have been before the sale.

Every moment of our trip here was phenomenal. The hosts were kind and friendly, gave us privacy and were very respectful. Our room was decorated specially for our anniversary, so thoughtful! The views are incredible with multiple decks to relax on so theres always some shade and some sun. The kayaks and canoes are safe, easy to access and fun! Our room was clean, private, air conditioned and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was perfect and fresh both days, with multiple options. The hot tub at lake level was the perfect touch and we couldn't be happier! We'll be back next year!

Beautiful place to get away for the weekend! Complimentary breakfast and coffee served every morning, gorgeous lakeside views. Owners are very sweet, they live upstairs in the property but it's a rarity you run into them so the suites seem very private! Paddle board, canoes and life jackets! Hot tub was beautiful at nightWould definitely stay again!!

We stayed in the lakeside king suite. Room was clean and tidy. Very ideal location and overlooks a beautiful lake. I really liked the kayaks available, we took the on a little trip around the lake. Paddle boards and canoe available as well. The lounge chairs were nice to sit it at night and relax by the water. The hot tub is currently out of service due to covid. Our room was a little bit outdated, the bed was super stiff and i was sore when i woke up. Not enough bed covers to share. The shower ground floor was with rocks and was awkward to stand on. Breakfast was a bit disappointing as they delivered it before it was time and it sat outside in the 10 degree temperature till we noticed it. Another thing that was super awkward is that a young girl (I'd say under 10 yrs old and assume the owners daughter) greeted us and checked us in and showed us around the property. I knocked on the door twice for some information and the young girl answered as no adults were available. The young girl is smart and answered to the best of her ability but that doesn't justify having no adults around! In the 2 nights i spent there, never did i see or interact with the hosts/owner of the bed and breakfast. I would highly recommend a reno in that lakesidebking room as the price charged sure doesn't reflect what you received. Hopefully the owners can fix some of these issues and keep a high rating. All the best.
