Patricia is a super nice receptionist but my psychiatrist was dismissive and I did not feel open to talking to him.

I have been trying to get an appointment with a Psychiatrist for a couple of months now. Communication is not their forté"

When an individual is reaching out for help, the last thing they should be told by their Doctor is You're not listening to me. You don't like what I'm saying. I'm going to hang up now"Different approaches are needed for different individuals. Being told repeatedly to undertake a form of treatment that I had very little interest in made it feel as though Dr Xue was more interested in selling me a therapy product than he was actually listening. I've been a patient for nearly a year

Stay away. Dr Xue is impatient, cuts you off and talks down to you. He is not interested in helping you.

After having struggled to stabilize my mental health for years, Dr Xue’s help has been indispensable. Grateful to be his patient. Unlike others, have never found him to be rude or condescending. He will however let you know when you are stable enough to stop working with him, which is not a rejection but but rather a result of the mental health services in this province being stretched thin and him having to triage his patients according to their needs.

I cannot speak for others who work here but my experience with Dr.Tran has been life altering in all the best possible ways. He's intelligent, down to Earth, kind, trusting, understanding of neurodivergent needs and holds the view that a diagnosis is a tool not a label that defines a person (rather he encourages me to use my diagnosis to help me in my journey to define myself). He's also able to call out when I'm ranting instead of having a conversation in a polite and clinically strategic way I highly appreciate. Bob, the social worker I spoke to when first being assessed, is also very kind and understanding and was fantastic as my introduction to the clinic (as someone who has long had a fear of psychiatry Bob's introduction before meeting Dr. Tran was quite effective at calming me down and attempting to get at the root of why I I was seeking treatment).

Missed appointments, upheld stigma with a lack of basic understanding of neurominority community norms and lived experiences, and they make ridiculous statements that your other doctors will roll their eyes at- for good reason.I do not recommend this clinic for anything or anyone. You speak to one person for an hour, they communicate with another, and then that person you've never spoken to comes in to tell you your diagnosis. It was a mess of broken telephone and assumptions, and they are meant to support people with communication challenges and needs...

Would have given 0 if it was an option! They need to work on their manners for sure! Such unprofessional behavior from an alleged psychotherapy clinic! The founder Dr." Xue has no patience

He may be thorough but his approach did not work for me at all. I felt interrogated and guilty for seeking help.

Dr.Xue is easily the best psychiatrist in Montreal. I had a complicated case and have struggled for many years to see someone good. Usually this would be a red flag for me, but he balanced my meds in just a few meetings and was extremely thorough. He did a great job and it was super fast as far as meds are concerned. Dr.Xue has an excellent network for referrals too if you need a good therapist or neurologist, especially if they all need to talk to eachother. Regardless of insurance coverage, he’s worth it. Great for tough cases.Dr.Xue won’t give you everything you ask for, but it’s only because he’s good at figuring out what’s a behavioural problem and what’s something that can be fixed with drugs. He won’t put you on something else to pay for if he doesn’t think it will help you and set you up for success. Found him via Reddit, and there were so many comments praising his competencies more than any other doctor that was recommended.PS The receptionist is a mess. Don’t take that as a red flag about Dr.Xue.
