Don't believe them when they talk about education and collaboration. They have shown they will make the least amount of effort as possible. I have been waiting over two months for their policy and procedures regarding how enforcement is applied. They penalize you for being honest. The manager will not respond to my request even though I was promised she would. Fines are also issued on assumptions. They did not observe an infraction, but issued on the assumption there was an infraction. When I asked why they did not send me a letter first their exact response was we don't have to." This does not sound like relationship building or collaboration. A very simple situation with an easy fix has now destroyed any relationship with them. They also use your past 8 years of co-operation against you rather than build on the relationship. My take away from this is to deny everything rather than be honest. I certainly hope the manager learns conflict resolution skills as well as the officers. Also an FYI. The adjudication process is a joke. I felt it was prove your innocence. I also felt within the first 30 seconds the decision was already made prior to the start of the hearing. Did not feel the adjudicator was at all neutral and I did not appreciate the "joke" she made at my expense in that type of setting.I was also informed that this is indicative of how Animal Control has operated in the past. I was advised they have been recently overhauled

We adopted our pup from here and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They sure love the dogs and are really interested in finding the right match . I am so happy that we did the drive to adopt our girl. Thank you so much for the work to do to keep these pups safe.

We adopt our dog from this facility. It is a great animal shelter and adoption agency. Our dog was neutered and given basic shots and a veterinary exam before we adopt him. He has food allergies, and the shelter accommodated his special needs. As far as I know this is a no kill shelter. It does rely in part on donations.

I love this facility and their staff are wonderful. I came to the CARE Centre for the first time last year when I adopted Garth (now Frosty), who has been just a delight to have around, and I am now fostering another sweet soul from them. They are such a gift; taking in dogs, getting them the vet care they need, and matching them with lucky people like me who get to be a dog's forever home.

What wonderful and caring staff at the FVRD Animal Care Centre! I called, after trying 2 other places and being referred here, regarding a newly-born fawn that had died 12-18 hrs after being born on my property. The mother doe was hovering nearby, under trees, but not approaching her babe. Mum seemed confused and stressed, understandably. I was somewhat upset, plus concerned for the doe.The lovely woman I spoke to on the phone gave me the necessary information re: how they could deal with the deceased fawn. However, more than that, she took the time to be empathetic and understanding of my sadness & concern of removing the fawn's body before the doe was ready. When the officer arrived the following day to pick up the fawn, once again I was met with wonderful kindness and respect. I appreciated the extra minutes the officer took to chat, not offering sympathy, but simply validating my feelings that as beautiful as Nature is, sometimes there are difficult moments.I'm sure the Care Centre staff deal with all types of domestic and wild animals in the course of their duties. They're busy and their work must be routine to them. I certainly appreciated the time and kindness shown to me while performing their jobs. The women whom I encountered deserve an A+ in all facets!! Thank you so much.

The two times I’ve dealt with these guys were great, (even though the situations weren’t so great)Our wonderful kitty, Scout was struck and killed by a car on Watson Rd. just before Christmas. When I contacted them, I forget the lady’s name, she was very nice and caring. We were upset about kitty leaving and she said take your time, and let us know what you want done with the remains. Really helped a hard time. Then a few weeks ago I encountered a raccoon who’d been called home on Vedder Rd, I called them up and again I felt their real sadness that there was a death of an animal, and assured me someone would be out promptly to retrieve him.Keep up the great work!!

A very sickly puppy came into my work (a vet clinic) and I called Animal Control as it was a stray, and they took it to their contracted vet clinic for treatment. I mentioned the situation to my mom who happened to be interested in him, a couple days after he was back at the shelter from the vet my mom had sent in an application (knowing that he was still on a stray hold, but she wanted to get her application in before he was available for adoption) only to get a response that they had no puppies available"...A few days later I found out that they had sent the puppy to foster with someone they knew through the grapevine
