I was not impressed with the care my mum received while she was there. I constantly requested to be notified of any issues, as soon as they happened. I told them I was only 10 min. away. I was never contacted when things happened. even when she'd fallen and badly broken her leg. They called another family member, who lived much further away, and in spite of not being able to contact that relative, and my mum suffering in pain, I still never received a call. That family member contacted me to let me know that there had been a message left that our mum was injured and inquiring about what to do. I got there immediately and had to insist they call an ambulance. They have a Dr. on the bottom floor that never came to see her. In emergency I was told her femur was shattered and required surgery to insert a rod, plates and wires to bring back together. Elim village had wanted to keep her there and treat her pain". She was in agony when I arrived. What made things far worse was that when she returned to Elim village

My parents, who both have dementia, went into Elim long-term care in February, 2020 and went into basic lockdown in March. I cannot speak highly enough about the care and love they have received from the staff during the pandemic. They organize Facetime calls every day except Sunday...even to my brother in South Africa. They have window visits with family and once every two weeks an “across the table” meeting with a member of the family (for safety reasons the same family member all the time). If they are upset the staff will call one of us so we can talk to them and help settle them down. We couldn’t have asked for more.Thank you, Elim, and you do indeed have heroes working in Elim.

I think they need to make better food choices for elderly people.

All staff were helpful and friendly. However some of the condo patios on the ground floor are sinking badly. This makes it very dangerous for seniors stepping on to their lawn. Also very wet. Inside found ceilings to be very low, and no windows makes them very dark and sad.

This Village and the team that manages it are wonderful. This is the perfect support network to assist older adults to remain independent. The list of services available from meals to housekeeping, activities to social gatherings ensures that the residence can and do live their best life.

I highly not recommend people to apply into this fundamentalist church facility if one really love your senior family member. All staffs are super judgmental, they have their own policies that can override all Governor Acts, Bylaw, and Regulations. Staffs are so discriminative and bias. Because staffs:1. Censoring all incoming calls for residents.2. Restricting visitors to visit without any comprehensive reasons and change their policy rapidly without notice.3. Bar your visit permnently if they don't like your visit.4. Force me to come up an agreement with conditions in order to resume my visit to my mother. And there are more.Updating:I kept complaining this facility to Health Professions Review Board in early of 2021. I was finally able to obtain all hidden documentations. Well I couldn't believe the nurse in order to complete her description of how badly of my personality, she was mading up the content of my mother's progressive notes. Two same date inputs, the second were written as more than a month after and the contents were so contradicted!

My Mum has been a resident for a year and a half, and I can report that I have nothing but praise and gratitude for the line staff at Elim Village. I make effort to visit my Mum daily, and I witness unrelenting care, respect, and love directed at residents. It is truly amazing to me how these qualities remain despite the incredible and unrelenting emotional and physical demands on staff. As Tia Walker writes, “To care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honors.” The staff at Elim Village have my highest respect and gratitude.

Good retirement community except for the food in long term care.
