Great staff, just wish they upgraded machines and equipment over the pass 2 years with the lock down. There isn’t much up to date pieces of equipment and the equipment ratio is odd for example ( 15 treadmills, 1 stair master, and 4 ellipticals.) most gyms have a good balance of all equipment. The staff is what keeps me there, hopefully they will upgrade soon.

I will give 0 ratings if possible. Too much attitude in staff. I had an interaction with shana and she was full of attitude. Literally took 25 mins for the normal 7 days free registration. Even some of the life guards keep the door open and its freezing like hell and when asked to keep the door closed they will throw literally some excuse. Grow up YMCA hire some professionals rather than 17 year old kids!

Make sure you ask questions when signing up for a membership with YMCA - they will leave a lot of information out. For instance, if you sign up for a membership mid or end of a month you are paying for the month it falls in. So if you happen to come in on Jan 30 you are paying for that day and the 31st and not for a full 4 weeks/ month of what you’re supposed to be getting. Please inform guests of this. I signed up and canceled my membership all within 30 days and I got charged twice because I had signed up at the end of a month.I don’t like this system; wouldn’t it make sense to match the anniversary date to the day we sign up so we are getting what we paid for?

A number of classes virtually and in person. Most classes are good when instructorsstick to their schedule. The courts are usual over booked and some classes are too booked and aren’t repeated enough. I used to miss my pre covid instructors and eventually lost interest in going back. Machines and all health protocols are well maintained

I’ve been trying to call ymca for canceling membership for the last couple of hours and no response. Not even a voicemail to leave a message. Disappointed to wait for hours just to speak to someone. You should come up with a better/ alternate system for cancellation if the customer service is too busy.

They have so many activities to do all at one place. Today I’ve tried badminton, very well maintained with the level of players.

Concerns: Inadequate Customer CareAs a long-time Plus member since 2008 at Scarborough Y, I feel compelled to express my disappointment with the current state of the facility. Over the years, I have witnessed a decline in the quality of service, which has reached its worst point. The staff appears careless and uninformed, lacking awareness of what's happening around them. While the management claims to care, their actions do not reflect any effort to train the staff adequately for providing good customer care.Recently, I faced a frustrating situation when both the whirlpool and dry steam services were unavailable, and the staff seemed clueless about when they would be back in service. Whenever I approached the front desk for support or information, they were unhelpful and failed to address my concerns. Even reaching them on the phone proved to be an impossible task. It is evident that the staff's training and guidance are severely lacking, and this negligence could potentially lead to safety issues if left unaddressed.I sincerely hope that the donors and senior leadership take note of this deteriorating situation and intervene to salvage the reputation of this once-beloved place. As loyal members paying over $200 for a family membership, we deserve better than encountering indifferent and disgruntled faces during our visits to the Y. I believe it's time for significant improvements to be made, ensuring that Scarborough Y regains its former glory as a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable space for all its members.

Regret paying so much for swimming, basketball and soccer. My son was 4 at the time and took the swimming class for 3-5. At first he liked it, then he complained that he is not learning anything new because all they do is animal run and “paint you body” with the water. Soccer was a complete mess. There was no structure. Same with basketball. They don’t even wear proper shoes. They tell the kids to shoot the ball without even showing them how to properly hold it. And on top of that they use the basketball to play bowling. If my kid wanted to learn bowling I would’ve taken him bowling instead of paying $150.
