Taboo Muskoka Golf Course
I was recently on a bit of a local golf trip, hit up TPC Osprey Valley for two rounds in a day, did a stay and play at Muskoka bay for 2 nights and also went down to The Nest at Friday Harbor. After leaving Muskoka bay we though we would try a different track and was recommended to go to Taboo. Unfortunately the conditions were a bit rough when I was there, the greens seemed ripped up in many spots (likely from birds). To be fair the staff were all super nice, no complaints on that at all, but the condition was a little bit disappointing. We spoke with the kid who was the marshall of the day (though it felt like a private course because it was a weekday evening) and he said the birds have been ripping up spots the moment they fix it.I hope it was just a rough start to this spring, but it definitely didn't feel like it was worth that price tag. Not a bad track by any means, just not worth the price in my opinion (unless the fairway and greens get better later in the season)Will hope to come back one day to see if my review changes

This course reminds me so much of Smuggler’s Glen in Gananoque and how it embraces the terrain of the Canadian Shield. This course is tough but fair, with narrow fairways and undulated green. You definitely don’t need to take driver out on every hole (but I still did) and you’ll be rewarded for smart shot making. Was a treat to play there and looking forward to the next time.

Beautiful course! Truly has natural nature and Muskoka feel to it! Greens in phenomenal shape.Staff were all very friendly and accommodating! The bar on the way back to the clubhouse is such a nice touch. Serving margaritas and tacos , green to hit some after round balls over some water , relax in Muskoka chairs. A must stop!

Play yesterday for the very first time. I've always wanted to play here and finally we were able to make it happen. First off the service was great. The bag drop was friendly and they put our clubs onto a cart and we were checked in relatively quickly. There's a covid waiver but no big deal only takes a second. Then we went up to warm up on the driving range witch we had all to ourselves. The balls were arranged neatly and it looked like we were the first group through even though we weren't. Without exaggerating we had the entire course to ourselves or at least it felt like it. There were no groups in sight until about the 11th hole when a twosome caught up to us. This is such an awesome and fun lay out to play. Every hole was unique in its own way and beautiful to look at. The course is very fair off the T lots of room to miss although obviously you can't miss by too much otherwise you're into the woods. There are so many incredible T-shots from elevated tee boxes to Fairways below and the views are unreal. We usually play Muskoka Bay and that is a newer course and is quite pristine in terms of the conditioning so this is not quite at that level in terms of conditioning however the golf course itself is more mature and I would say just as or more beautiful than Muskoka Bay. Taboo is more raw and rugged which we really loved. I would recommend this course to anyone who loves golf because it's an experience not to be missed. Special shout-out to the 19th Hole Bar on top of the driving range. This was so cool as they give you a free shot at a hole in one for $5,000. It's about 130 yard shot down a hill to an artificial green they built by the lake. Super cool if you manage to get it on the green they do a draw 4 for free passes for golf which is the value of close to $600. Just a great day all around and thank you to all the staff at taboo for welcoming us and showing us a great time. Till next time.

Absolutely a beautiful course. Tees are a little rough but otherwise in very good shape. No open restrooms on the course and no beverages cart service as of Aug 25th. You can cart alone or pairs currently. Things are very dynamic right now so check periodically for changes.

Golfing at Taboo is a real treat. The Canadian shield, massive pines, lakes, and valleys really make for a spectacular round of golf. They have a nice practice area, and range to use before you tee off to get rid of any pre-round jitters. The course is long and challenging but offers many different tee boxes so you can play the course however you like it. The greens are pure, the fairways roll, and there are lots of moments where you have a risk/reward shot. It's no wonder Canadian golf legend Mike Weir calls Taboo home.Their clubhouse has some AWESOME swag, so if you're looking for a new outfit... this is the place to get geared up.Hole 19 and the tequila lounge are a unique ending to your round and you even have a chance to win your next round or even a membership! So cool! It's a bit of a drive from Toronto, but definitely worth the trip. If you don't want to drive there in back in one day, they have rooms for you to extend your trip and make a weekend out of it.I'll be back Taboo!

One of the most stunning golf courses in the area. Challenging layout of some holes. Staff very friendly and helpful. Definitely will be coming back.

I think this course had the best carts. They had automatic slow down on declines, didn't have to engage a brake pedal, and they had a ball washer and club washer right on the side. Also an app could be downloaded to keep score and read distance to hole. The course itself had a good clubhouse with golf equipment and accessories as well as a restaurant for food and drink. There was a driving range, pitching and putting green included before starting out on the first hole. This course is beautiful and challenging with the many rock formations throughout as well as the sand traps. Water hazards were not really an issue. The course is well maintained and well worth a visit.

Taboo Muskoka Golf Course
Tremendously beautiful course with lots of rock outcroppings on the course. In fact on the 4th hole, a par 5, there was a wall of rock across the fairway (see pictures below). Some might think that this is gimmicky but I love it. The uphill 7th hole, par 3, had a staircase of rock going up the right side. It is no surprise that scoregolf ranks this as tops in the country.

Nice course. Friendly staff that abide by safe covid-19 precautions. They have a useful app as well that shows your yardage to the green and distances to certain bunkers and parts of the fairway. It would be nice to have more than 15 minutes at the driving range.
