Alair Homes was recommended to us by a friend. I gave Leigh a call after I had another contractor try to extort more money out of me after his initial quote. It was probably the best thing that could have happened for us. It was only a small reno but Leigh was just as attentive as if it was one if his larger scale ones. We had a very limited budget and he was able to work within that budget and managed to save us some money in the end. He really went above and beyond to ensure that we were happy and, of course, the quality of work was great. Leigh and his crew respected our home as if it was their own. Overall, we had a really great and non-stressful experience.We will definitely use Alair Homes in the future and would recommend them to anyone looking make improvements to their home. Lorraine and I had so many things to be grateful for in 2015, one of which was our new condo that we purchased together as our first investment as a couple. The condo is located in an older building here in Calgary and has lots of rules and guidelines to follow when one of the units is being renovated, not to mention the other subtle challenges that you would not run into when renovating a single family detached home. Having to book the elevator when deliveries are scheduled, concrete ceilings and floors to deal with, being fined if you work after 5:00PM and not being able to work on weekends to name just a few. When we were choosing a contractor for this unique renovation our focus was on attention to detail, yes for the work done within our home but also we were very conscience of not disrupting our neighbors within the building itself. Having Dustin and Leigh from Alair Homes come into our lives was probably THE single biggest blessing for us this year... I know that sounds corny and cliche but my OCD is over the top and knowing this they still agreed to take on this challenge!! Not only did they work within the condo board bylaws, they also brought the project to completion within the 10 week time frame that we required. Others residents were amazed as some of their renovations took almost a year to complete. Needless to say Alair Homes will be doing more work in this building. Here's the bottom line... Not only would I recommend Dustin and Leigh (Alair Homes) as contractors who do amazing work, I would also recommend that you spend time getting to know these young men on a personal level as well. Lorraine and I are truly grateful that we did, and I am certain that a lifelong friendship will continue as we conduct business, break bread and play together over the next many years!!

We couldn't be happier with our entire experience of working with Alair Calgary on our renovation in Lake Bonavista. Leigh, Dustin and Jesse are genuinely good guys who have a serious passion for what they do and care deeply about their customers.I think I went in with an expectation that anyone who does this kind of thing day in and day out should be able to provide good, professional results, and they definitely delivered that. What I wasn't so sure about was what to expect for transparency, updates and general management of the project, and this is where they really surpassed my expectations!Not only is Alair extremely organized, with a web portal for managing project budget and timelines and a clear approval process for all costs, but our project manager, Jesse, was on top of everything and kept the project rolling along smoothly. Jesse never let us get to the point where we were guessing about anything because he did such a great job of keeping us updated. Really great guy, can't recommend him enough!Our reno was extensive. They practically rebuilt the whole house, and we did go way beyond our initial budget, but we knew every step of that way that it was 90% a result of us asking for more, with only a fraction related to unforeseen costs (eg: asbestos in the popcorn ceiling). Their process and their software made the whole thing totally transparent, so there were no surprises. If you expect to keep adding to the scope and keep the same budget you're a fool and will be disappointed no matter who you hire.Bottom line: these guys are awesome, and I'd recommend them to anybody. In fact, I already recommended them to my own brother, and they are right now renovating his home in Wildwood.This review is about Alair, but I also need to give a shout-out to Tamara Dubiel of Collaborative Design who was brought in by Leigh to help with the layout and selections. She was really great to work with and we love what she did with the house.
