I recently moved from Vancouver and was thrilled to find Artizans. Fantastic, knowledgable and kind stylists. Their product section of ethical, Canadian made hair care products for natural hair is amazing too. I highly recommend them.

Actual service: 3 starsThe silk press and cut in themselves were well done.The service was supposed to be performed in 3 hours and after 4.5 hours the salon been closed for over an hour and the stylist had not gotten to styling my hair yet but I had to leave. I left with a nice press but with no styling done so I wasn’t very satisfied.I noticed the conditioner used had little to no slip so there was lots of extra breakage. I would request they use Up North Naturals for the other type 4 haired girls that drop by.Customer service: 1 starThe customer service was extremely poor.I booked an appointment almost 2 months in advance to make sure I was able to have Lovely as my stylist. When I arrived, I was given to Sandrine.I have been natural for 6 years now and this was my first time in a salon and first time using a flat iron on my hair since the big chop.When I asked questions about which products were being used, how to maintain the silk press, what temperature she was planning use, etc, I always got a little bit of attitude in the response.Only at the cash, did she tell me about the extra services she had provided and was charging me for even though the original service was not complete since we did not have time to style my hair.For all you naturals looking for your first salon experience or for a salon where you can relax and learn about hair care, I would recommend you select a different stylist or look elsewhere.

For hair treatments (shampoo, hair cuts, etc) and maybe cornrows (result might depend on your hair texture), a quiet yes.But I don't recommend going there for braids; I have been getting braids for over 25 years on 3 different continents so I confirm that the technique is not there. From the handling of the extensions at the beginning to the braiding itself and the finishing touches, it's subpar. The braids look and feel botched. Overpriced for the quality of the result. Loud no.
