Grouse Mountain Skating Rink

They use the Zamboni only once daily (in the morning). So the rink surface is always ruff. But it is good for beginners. Christmas lights were nice.

Better than expected. Bears were cool. Birds were excellent. Free bus ride on the way back.

How can they charge $50 a person to go up the mountain and now I'm reading the ice is unkept, I was looking forward to this and was going to bring a few a friends but not anymore.

The skate rink is fun because of the atmosphere alone. But.. the ice needs improvements. It’s not taken care of. Super slushy with a lot of dips and bumps. The skates were also beaten and dull. It would be awesome with more effort.Ways they could improve the rink would be to place drainage in certain areas. Then have the skate staff move water buildup off the ice and into the drainage system. Doesn’t have to be super expensive (just innovative). Also, general maintenance with brooms and shovels could help. Right now it’s neglected.Lastly, keep investing in new skates. Maybe there’s an opportunity to partner with a skate manufacturer?I think the rink started out with the right thought. But the staff and management have lost interest in it (as its probably not a huge money maker).

Very nice place! Very organized, clean, safe and with a wonderful landscape!!!
