Beautiful wooded lot in an urban setting. You can get deep enough to forget about the cars and immerse in nature, which is lovely. Sadly, the winter was hard on our little forest, so there were lots of downed trees and branches. However, the trails have been cleared, so you can get around safely.

October 5, 2020Mccarthy Woods is a beautiful place for a quick hike. There are no steep inclines and the trails themselves are quite easy. You’ll love the trees that overshadow the trails. This hike is a quick escape from the Ottawa city life. There is parking at the Hunt Club Riverside Community Centre. However, stay away from the wildlife (i.e. coyotes) and bring appropriate footwear (i.e. the trail can sometimes be very muddy). Overall, a decent hike.

Loved it….we are very lucky to have this lovely interesting park and biodiverse park, in my case very nearby so perfect for regular walks in most months of our year!
