Buffalo Crag Lookout

Amazing place to hike and love the lookout!

Nice fall colors but very busy

Lovely lookout overlooking the valley. Birds of prey slowly drifting on the air currents.There is a notable contrast to be in such an elevated place and to see the world below, after looking into the crag, pondering how the rock façade has become detached from the cliff over the millennia and not yet hurled itself into the valley.What looks like a cave is a crevice (crag). We stood on the edge pondering what it would be to be like to be literally stuck between a rock and a hard place. But here we considered what it would be like to climb or repel down, with your back turned to the view and the intimate presence of the cliff in front of you.A crag is rock isolated from other high ground. This façade may have detached from the plateau 1000s of years ago and may be here for 1000s of years.As for the smell... it may be from the Monaghan Mushroom Farms below.
