I didn't want to leave a bad review, but I'm so annoyed with my hair after 1 month of visiting the studio.What I wanted was to tighten the roots and repair my 90 tight dreadlocks with extensions. They're only 7 months old and pretty clean. I had them repaired only 4 months ago, but I like them tight and clean, without any fluff.For sure, it's not an easy task, so I visited Granville studio the day before to clarify details and avoid miscommunication. The price for the full service seemed too high to me, so we decided to tighten the roots, maybe with a little extension, and clean only the broken fluffy parts of the dreadlocks.Unfortunately, on the day of the repair, we had a miscommunication about the final price and service fulfillment. The hair technician was different, and she didn't ask me about the desired result. I thought, Okay

Out of all the fantastic brands I’ve encountered in my lifetime, Afro is one of the most charming, essential to the city, and important to me.I first started with Afro about 4 years ago. My braider had moved away, and I was left with little to no long term options. I came by Afro Hair Studio and got cornrows. Each time, over the following weeks, the team got better and better at figuring out my hair texture, and we created a seamless style (8 rows) and a taper that has me on top of my game every 9, 10 days. This formula has taken me to elevated levels in business, mental health, community and overall happiness living in Vancouver.Afro Hair Studio cares about scalp, about hair and fixing damage when it occurs, they have staff who love music, and you’ll always hear the latest Afro music. It’s a therapeutic atmosphere where everyone shows love.There was a time when I witnessed another black man, fret over cutting his locs. The consultant had few options because the man’s hair had dreaded. They consulting on cornrows after cutting some areas, it made him nervous but he agreed. After the cornrows were done, I look at him and said “wow, looks great!”, which it really did.This is the type of thing you can expect at Afro.

My experience at Afro hair studio was nothing short of remarkable.Being a South Asian man with slightly curly hair, I was unsure about how my first-ever hair salon experience would unfold, especially with my plan to get cornrows. However, all my apprehensions disappeared as soon as I stepped into the salon.Mary, the stylist who worked her magic on my hair, was not only skillful but also had an engaging personality that immediately put me at ease. She navigated the intricacies of braiding my hair into cornrows with admirable finesse, and the result was beyond my expectations. It was not merely a hair braiding session, but a delightful experience that I enjoyed from start to finish.Apart from Mary's excellent skills, our conversation was equally enjoyable. She maintained a friendly and professional demeanor throughout, adding a personal touch to the service. The lively chat we had while she worked on my hair made the time fly by.In conclusion, Afro hair studio exceeded my expectations on all fronts. They catered wonderfully to my unique hair type and style requirements, and the overall ambiance of the salon was inviting and comfortable. From the moment you step into Afro Hair Studio, you're greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff members are not only highly skilled but also genuinely passionate about what they do. Do not get your hair done here! She ruined my friends hair for her graduation. They didn’t color match and put the thinnest extensions , gave us a set price and after it was all finished it looks so bad that they wanted to charge even more TO FIX IT. She’s now crying and underage and they won’t let her leave the store THEY LOCKED HER INSIDE and won’t let her go without paying full price! When she wants them to remove it she’s devastated! Graduation is in a couple days! They don’t care about customer service they don’t care if the service is done right. They said they don’t care at all if you like it or not because it’s “not their problem” Those exact words to be precise while I was on the phone with the hair stylist and the manager took the stylist side. Don’t let these guys over charge you for garbage. These people only argue I don’t even care about their response, people just need to be aware. - AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Best experience I’ve ever had at a salon! The music, the vibe, the customer service, it was all amazing and perfect. The stylist are skilled they can do absolutely anything to your hair. I love how this salon offers literally every single hair service and they have every possible humans hair extension, wigs, and products.

DO NOT come to this hair salon unless you want to take a chance on losing your money!! I asked for medium sized box braids with a goddess appearance, and got normal knotless braids with synthetic curls. I told 3 different staff/stylists what I wanted, with reference photos, and asked them to pick the appropriate hair for me. Two girls worked on my hair, and it still came out uneven in length, with pieces of hair sticking out everywhere. It looked absolutely horrible by the second day. I told them that I was unhappy with it, and they graciously let me come in for a redo - however I still paid a partial fee for their service. I left the salon happy, thinking that it was beautiful since they finally did the medium sized braids I wanted... However, when I looked closely I realized they were still not box braids - they did knotless on me again. Within 6 days my braids were coming loose at the root!!! I couldn't believe it. 2 braids slipped right out, fully intact!!! I contacted Afro Hair Studio again, saying I can't believe that this has happened. I said I did not want them to do my hair a 3rd time, and asked for a refund. I played phone tag with them for over a week, as I could tell they were avoiding me. When I finally got in contact with the owner, she talked over me and repeatedly told me it must be my fault as she'd never experienced this before". They have not agreed to refund me. $530.74 down the toilet!!!!!"

I have been to both locations and both have amazing staff. Prices are not posted so I strongly suggest you ask first and get specific. My daughter's mommy feels it is too pricey, but she lives in Jamaica, so this is a specialty here due to the lack of the salons.I wish I remember the woman's name who did my daughter's hair, I think Catherine - I am horrible with names, but she did such a BEAUTIFUL job. Both her mommy and grandma loved it. It's been a week and still looks fresh. Mt daughter feels like a movie star!My son has been 3 times as well. $60 for his fade but best one yet!

I had an amazing experience at this salon. Having curly hair, it’s always tricky to find places that can cater to your needs and expectations. I was visiting Vancouver with my fiancé and they were able to squeeze me in, which was greatly appreciated. The customer service was great and the stylist took care of my curls. I got a trim with a wash and go. My hair is looking and feeling healthy! I’d recommend this location and would definitely come back once I visit again!
