Sarah McKee was our night doula for my recent pregnancy, and she was amazing! Sarah came to us during a difficult time, and she provided compassionate and professional doula care for our family. She allowed us to sleep while she cared for our newborn overnight. Sarah was prompt, knowledgeable, compassionate, nonjudgemental and I trusted her with my newborn, which is difficult to do! She obviously takes her role as a doula seriously. Her services were worth every penny.

Sarah has been our postpartum doula for several months and we just love her! In addition to taking wonderful care of our baby, she has cooked and tidied up for us, and helped me figure out the baby monitor, carrier, breast pump, sleep regressions, etc. Sarah is kind, warm, trustworthy, knowledgeable, and takes initiative. It’s been invaluable to be able to rely on her!

If it wasn't for Andrea Paul and the discover birth team I would not have had such a positive birthing experience. My labour went exactly the opposite of what I has envisioned and I cannot express enough how important Andrea's role was through the process. This being my first pregnancy I was in dreamland of how I wanted everything to go and planned every detail with high hopes! I knew I wanted a doula and after speaking with my midwives decided upon Discover Birth. My first impression of Andrea was very positive and I knew instantly she knew what she was talking about and we would be a great fit. She is positive, knowledgeable, realistic and open and honest-which is exactly what I wanted. I also wanted someone who would go to bat for me should I need it and that is Andrea; she let me know she is there for me and my interests (within reason of course!) She prepared me for a plethora of outcomes, gave very good direction, information and many things to practice and prepare for pre labour, she was also really good at helping with expectations. My planned birth was a home water birth with little to no interventions. My real birth ended up being a 36 hour induced labour in hospital which ended in an emergency c-section. You can imagine how this could have had a negative effect emotionally and mentally if I was not in good hands. Through the induction she made sure my needs were met, the room was set up according to our previous plan- or as much as we could do and I felt safe. She was fantastic at positioning to help with pain, getting my husband involved and working seamlessly with the midwife. She was there for me emotionally after the birth and made sure to visit and debrief as well as help with feeding. If it wasn't for her prepping me prior to the birth and being there for me afterwards it would not have been so positive. I am truly thankful <3. The Discover Birth team was also great, easy to talk to, got back to me quickly with any and all questions I had and worked with me to make sure I was happy and taken care of. Overall, you can tell the people at Discover Birth truly care about what they do, have a passion for helping people and want to make sure you have a positive birthing experience. I highly recommend them and if I should be so blessed with another child will be using them again.

We had a great experience with Sarah McKee as our postpartum doula. She was informative and lovely to work with. She has a calm energy about her that made both my husband and I feel at ease, and my son had no issues adjusting to being cared for by her instead of us. She was always there to answer any questions we had. Her care provided us with the worry free sleep we needed as new parents! Thanks Sarah!

Our experience with Discover Birth was amazing. We worked with Sarah McKee and she was such a blessing to have by our side throughout my pregnancy and especially my labour. She was there whenever I needed her or had questions or worries and she always approached everything with understanding, compassion, and knowledge. She was our doula for my first pregnancy and it was so helpful to have someone outside of my OB and the staff at the hospital there to support me and ensure not just my medical needs were met but my emotional needs as well. Sarah McKee was our doula and we would 10/10 recommend her! Sarah’s support was incredible. From the first moment in person, Sarah brought a calmness to our family that was so helpful. As first time parents, she guided and supported us, gave us helpful tips and tricks and supported not only our baby but also myself postpartum. She is so kind, caring and gentle. Sarah McKee was an incredible Doula and an absolutely fantastic part of our pre-natal, birthing, and postpartum team here in Toronto. She was supportive, kind, calming, had a wealth of knowledge and we 100% trusted her support during labour & delivery and with our baby when she came for overnight postpartum support.Sarah helped us prepare in the months leading up to labour and birth, giving us guidance on what to expect, what to have prepared, and was available for any and all questions we had. We asked many questions; about different choices we could make for our birth plan, and tips and tricks to get our baby to move during an ultrasound (he always was just so relaxed during them).Our plan was to have the birth at a hospital (St Joseph’s). We sailed past our due date, and went in for an ultrasound at the hospital. Potential issues were showing and we never left and were taken off to L&D to be induced. As labour progressed Sarah joined us at the hospital and it became apparent that labour wasn’t actually progressing and we would likely need a cesarean. Sarah, along with our obgyn and nurses helped us be confident in our choice to move ahead with the cesarean and then my partner chose Sarah as the one to go into the operating room with her. This was the best choice ever as Sarah had experience, having recently guided 2 other clients through cesareans. She knew what to expect and, step by step, helped my partner know what to expect as well. She knew to take a photo right after birth, and to ask for a bottle to feed our newborn. I would’ve given it my all, but couldn’t have provided the support Sarah did during the cesarean.Postpartum overnight visits were AMAZING! We got to sleep. Need I say more? Lol. Don’t hesitate to go with overnight postpartum visits because they are so helpful during the first couple of months. Sleep will be a rare thing, and being able to get a whole night of sleep twice a week was the best thing ever!! Sarah also gave us lots of advice, tips and help during this time as well, which was so helpful.I’ll also mention that we are a non-traditional family structure and Sarah was so supportive and never judgemental. She was also fully supportive our our birth plan to go with an obgyn + Doula and a hospital birth and of our choice to exclusively bottle feed our kiddo.If we had to do it all over again, we would go with Sarah for our Doula without hesitation.

My husband and I had a great experience with Discover Birth. Andrea the Team Manager was super responsive and connected us with a couple of Doulas right away.After conducting some interviews my husband and I decided to work with Sarah McKee as our birth doula and we could not be happier with our choice. From the beginning Sarah provided a calm and trusting energy. She was a great resource to have throughout my pregnancy between the prenatal visits and the impromptu calls and texts. At the birth Sarah was a great support person for both myself and my husband. It was helpful to have someone prompt me on trying different labouring positions and pain management techniques. It was also nice to have another familiar face in the room.We also had Sarah come over for an overnight shift a few days after birth to help us get a good nights rest.My husband and I also took the prenatal class with Discover Birth and we found it to be packed with useful information about the birthing process and taking care of a newborn.We would definitely recommend Discover Birth and specifically Sarah for anyone considering hiring a doula.

Where do I even start? Hiring our doula, Sarah McKee, was the best decision we ever made in our son’s labour journey. The 2 prenatal visits to our home really put us at ease that we would be mentally and physically prepared to give birth to our first born. From the moment we hired Sarah, we had full access to her wealth of knowledge. She was always just a text or phone call away & happy to help with any inquiry we had. Then when it came to birthing my son, Sarah was an integral part in pain management (as I went the natural route). My labour had lasted 70 hours and when we needed Sarah, she was at our house helping ease the pain in the comfort of our own home until it was time to head to the hospital. My husband and I honestly believe that if we hadn’t hired Sarah, we wouldn’t have had a positive experience birthing our first born, despite it being a long and arduous labour. Sarah was an integral piece in the healthy birth of our son and without a doubt we will be hiring her with our next child. The post-natal visit in our home when our son was 1 week old was a great way to conclude our time with Sarah as she made sure we were able to address any questions we had regarding what had happened in my labour, baby care questions and breastfeeding inquiries. She even did our son’s first bath with us! All this to say, Sarah was worth every penny & I would highly recommend hiring her or the doula of your choice at Discover Birth. Thank you, Sarah! We are forever indebted to you!

Sarah McKee was our overnight Doula and we had an amazing experience with her. She took care of our little one during the night which allowed us to sleep through the night and help me to recover after my c- section, especially during that first week. She was very kind and knowledgeable and we will recommend her services 100%! Thanks again Sarah!
