Surprised at all the good reviews. It’s mediocre at best.Service was lovely and fast.Tempura was surprisingly amazing.Chicken teriyaki was decent, not much flavour in the sauce. The sprouts/cabbage slaw beneath the chicken wasn’t flavourful at all.The sushi was just bad. Rice was mushy, and the faux crab wasn’t even separated, that just screams laziness.Tray C lunch special was overall okay but nothing special.

I ordered take out with skipthedish. Order came within the estimated time and was packaged nicely. I got the ebi sunomono, roll combo, and salmon sashimi.Loved the rolls and sashimi; the sunomono could use more noodles (portion wise)

We've been here for the second time and the server is really friendly. My husband and I is a huge fan of sushi, and once we love the place and food, we'll surely keep coming back.Price is very reasonable.Food is fresh and yummy. The restaurant is pretty small and clean, but I don't care as long as the food is really good and fresh!

My friend and I eat at this amazing restaurant once or twice a week. The food is amazing and the owners are so delightful. This is by far our favorite restaurant in Surrey and beyond.

We were in Surrey this weekend for the Canada Cup Girls Fastball Tournament. As per any tournament there is an abundance of overpriced fast food available. We travel a lot so eating out is not much of a novelty for us, so our two main concerns are good value and clean (ish) food.As we are not familiar with Surrey we were searching for something not fast food, close to softball city and with decent pricing as traveling is expensive on its own, not to mention with kids. Our google maps search brought us to the Rokku Asian Cuisine Sushi and Grill restaurant.BEST FIND!We were happy to find sushi as it’s typically pretty clean eating but nervous once we saw the sign “under new management”. In our experience that usually points to the food not having been very good historically… We were pleasantly proven wrong.Upon entrance we were immediately greeted by a super clean dining room. That is a major plus. The server was extremely friendly, took our order in a timely fashion and came back regularly to refill our waters and check on us.The food – Ummm hello delicious! And a great value. Where can you get a 17 pc of fresh sushi for $8.99… Rokku, that’s where. This meal was so fresh tasting and the rolls were huge, made fresh right there in front of us. Doug had the bento box and hindsight was that I wish I had that. The bento box came with 8 sushi rolls , right, tempura sushi, salad and miso soup. The portion size was massive and the price was $10.99.There are designated parking spots in the lot beside the restaurant which is nice as we hate looking for parking especially in a town we’re not familiar with.We are so glad we gave Rokku Asian Cuisine Sushi and Grill restaurant a try as it was the best meal, by far, that we had all weekend and a refreshing switch from overpriced fast food. We will definitely go back next year when we are in town for the Canada Cup again- probably a few times!I suggest to the management that they market to the local events such as the Canada Cup as their prices are good and traveling families will likely line up for their prices and delicious eats!!Cheers!Doug and Shannon

First time here, great service, owner is very polite and service is great, ordered some chicken teriyaki and cucumber roll sushi and it all tasted azing only gave it 4 stars because some pieces of the chicken tasted a bit under cooked. But great experience will be going there again.

I’ve never met restaurant owners who are so entitled and are bullies until I came here.I live close to this restaurant. I have ordered from them before and was overall satisfied with their food. It’s not the greatest sushi place but it isn’t so bad in taste either.I may get a lot of negative comments for this one but I have my reasons. When I dine out, 100%, I always tip for as long as I’ve been dining out my whole life. Today, I couldn’t leave a tip because to be honest, I’ve been struggling financially and at this point with a baby, every dollar counts. I’m not one to be stingy but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Tipping is definitely not an obligation but it is understood that it is a cultural expectation & is a courtesy. Hence, because it is a cultural expectation, I’ve noticed many places have acted to becoming entitled to it. The service here wasn’t amazing, I didn’t feel welcomed when I walked in but the average service was there and the server did her part. When I decided to not tip, the lady dropped her jaw in shock and asked “No tip?!” I told her “no, not today. Im sorry” I was wanting to come back another day and give them a really nice tip when I am able to.As I walked out the restaurant with no hesitation the lady, in a loud and condescending tone said “oh my god!!!” While glaring at me. I felt bullied and judged by the way she made those expressions. She really tried to make me feel guilty. Talk about gaslighting.Because of this reaction I received from her, I’m not coming back to this restaurant. You could try to be understanding of people & try to see why they cannot tip. yes, tipping is a standard in Canada but IT IS NOT A CRIME NOR CAN YOU FORCE SOMEONE TO tip after they’ve contributed to supporting and enjoying your business.Again, I love to tip because I used to work in a restaurant but never have I ever expected or demanded my customers to tip me nor have I made them feel bullied or was condescending towards them. Some people cannot afford to tip but would love to enjoy some food they can’t have access to at home.I hope the owner learns how to communicate to people & be kind. Based on some reviews here, it seems to be a pattern that the way they speak to customers is unprofessional and rude.Do better.
