Our mountain road was extremely icy today and my truck slid into the ditch sideways, blocking off the road, right in front of the last bend. It was a very steep and narrow part of the mountain, with massive walls of rock on either side. Brian Jackson has the contract for plowing and sanding our road and one of his drivers, Brian, was just coming up the mountain to sand when he had to stop, not being able to pass me. No one could get by me from either direction and my great fear was that the next vehicle to come down the mountain was going to slide right into me, since there was no traction at all. I had stopped at the top of the steepest part of the road, but my truck just rolled forward down the hill anyway, and I expected the same would happen to the next vehicle.The sand truck backed down the hill and then turned around and I was afraid he had left, but instead he backed up the hill to spread as much gravel as he could out the rear of his vehicle, near my truck, in order to help me. I still could not walk safely around my vehicle, it was sheer ice and I've just had major surgery. All I could do was to pray....really, really hard, and with all the faith and trust I could summon up!Brian took out a shovel and began to spread the sand behind my tires, but I was really stuck. The plow was attached to my front and was really jammed into the snowbank, along with my one wheel which was in a deep rut, just a short distance from the rock wall - which I managed not to hit (thanks be to God). I prayed and prayed and prayed, knowing that God will always come through, but wondering how I was going to get out.Brian stayed with my vehicle, trying again and again to push, sand and find a way out. Cars were starting to form a line above us, but thankfully they didn't venture towards us, as that would have made for quite a pile up. Then Brian got into his vehicle and headed back down the mountain. I was afraid he had left again, but this time he had turned around and came back to steadily push the pile of snow which lay at the other side of the rock wall with his plow to make a path past my truck. It wasn't easy...he, too, was fighting the ice and was sliding all over the place and the road was very narrow between these rock walls! It took him multiple tries to make it through.Miraculously, Brian was able to make a clearing, without sliding into my truck, and got past me. I wondered if he would just keep going to sand the rest of the mountain...so that the others lined up now at the top of the hill would be able to safely travel down the road. But...he was the angel sent to help me! He backed up towards me after having thrown some sand down up the hill, tied my vehicle to his and pulled me out of the ditch! I was so amazed that this worked! I can't see how a tow truck would have been able to help since I needed help from the top side of the mountain, which was so icy that no one could come down to help!Thank you, thank you, thank you Brian....and may God richly bless you!!
