King of Donair
I've slowly been eating my way through the menu and have never been disappointed. The service is always friendly and personal, the food is always fresh (even when I stop by mid afternoon) and the flavor combinations are delicious. This is the only place in Calgary where you will get that Canadian east coast donair you've been craving! New owner is very friendly and humble to serve and take order. Place is very clean. Must visit

I have a gut feeling homeless can get better free pizza than these. Dried nonsense meat shredded. Similar look to dried cat food.

I placed an order for pickup from this website. The total coming to $24.09 charged to my credit card. I am in the store waiting for my order that the guys knows nothing about, he is serving other people. While I am waiting for my order I start doing the math, my order should have come to $20.98. I ask the only person that I can see working and he tells me nothing is free

Nothing like KOD on Quinpool, the Calgary location makes a terrible donair, and awful pizza. That visit was one and done, I won't be back.

The food used to be good but not anymore. This pizza place was the best in Halifax. The store here downtown smells bad. The restaurant is not a good place to sit and eat. It's really bad needs a makeover. The cook made our pizza with his bare hands while he ran it over his hair.

I have been here twice and will not return. Here's why:Round 1: On my first visit I ordered two medium donairs (original + hot blonde). When the brown bag with the food hit my hand I stood for a few moments waiting for another. Why? The bag was so light I assumed that only one of my donairs had been handed over. After pausing, I poked around the outside of the bag and felt what appeared to be two distinct wraps, and so I headed home with my food. When I opened the bag I was utterly disappointed. For $10 ($11 for the hot blonde) I was provided with wraps that were a mere 6 inches in length. The wraps were also formed in an aggressive cone shape, making the size even more underwhelming. After taking a photo (provided) I unwrapped the hot blonde for a taste. Surely, the original east coast donair's quality would make up for its size. Nope! The meat was bland, cheese smelled slightly moldy, pita was thin, and the entire ensemble was a mess that you’d definitely want a knife and fork for. At this point, I was never going back, and intent on spreading the word.Round 2: A friend shares a social media post from King of Donair advertising half-priced pizzas. Coming off of round 1 with the donairs, I was hesitant. However, I hadn't tried their pizza, and at half price I could pick up a medium for just $9. So I committed to giving King of Donair a second chance and ordered up a Brother's pepperoni pizza as well as another donair (this time, the Supreme sized original for $14). When I picked up the food I was hopeful - the pizza would be a surprise, and the donair seemed weightier. Unfortunately, nothing turned out as I had anticipated. The donair was 9 inches long, and still formed in an aggressive cone shape. In regards to donair quality, there was no difference from round 1. The pizza was another big disappointment. It was very cheesy, however I sense King of Donair feels that loads of cheese can replace everything else that makes a quality pizza. Cheese aside, the sauce was bland, the dough severely under-cooked, and there was an embarrassing total of 15 pieces of pepperoni on the pie - 2.5 pieces per slice (see photos). What I compare to: Big John's (8th street and 14th ave SW). I've been going to Big John's for a decade, and they do a donair properly. It isn't franchised, is owned and operated by an older married couple, and the price, size, and quality are all on point. This spot offers their donairs in two sizes (regular and super). I've always gotten the super, so won't discuss the regular. The super donair packs a punch. It is 11 inches long and priced at $11.50 all in with in-store pick-up (appx $12.50 through Skip). Size aside, the donair itself is amazing. Wrapped in thick but soft pita, stuffed like a brick with savory thinly sliced donair meat, topped with the classic onion-tomato-parsley trio, and loaded with deliciously sweet donair sauce, this thing is a treat. Fun fact, Big John's will also add extra veggie toppings at no extra charge (I typically add pineapple, or, green pepper and black olives).Wrapping Up (No Pun Intended): King of Donair as currently operated is a sham. The product is extensively inferior to other local staples. The taste is by no means memorable, and pricing to size is laughable. Comparing King’s and John's largest donairs makes this clear. At King’s, you can purchase the supreme – 9-inch cone shaped donair for $14 before tax (no extra toppings allowed). At John's, you can purchase the super – 11-inch brick for $11.50 after taxes (extra veggies no charge). Size and price aside, the difference in taste is also massive. Clearly, King of Donair takes their reputation as the original donair for granted. To King of Donair, I strongly suggest reducing the marketing budget and re-investing in quality. To potential customers, I strongly suggest avoiding King of Donair in favour of Big John's (or one of the other great donair options in Calgary). Please see photos provided, and believe I’m serious.

Bought a donair and brought it home to eat. The pita was chewy like rubber, pretty sure the toppings were cat food with lettuce and big Mc sauce.Halfway through the donair I had to stop because it was too disgusting. About 10 minutes after eating my body went into full purge mode and expelled every morsel or what I ate.To sum it up:-expensive-gross-made me sickWill never be returning and will warn anyone about this place.

Couldnt highly recommend enough NOT visiting this place. Its disgusting. There was no meat on the spinner. Literally a couple cm of beef all dried out and hard. Nothing on the chicken one. Donair was wrapped in tin foil. When I opened it the contents were more outside the tiny wrap then inside. See pic. It tasted pretty terrible. There's no signs of management or care in this place. I'd rather try Jerusalem sharwma and risk getting ecoli.

Horrible!! Just horrible!! We ordered a Canadian and got an over cooked pepperoni. And the garlic fingers were so burnt they had not taste. This is the second time in a month this happened. Can’t believe how down hill this place has gone. Honestly don’t waste your money.
