This review reflects a first and one time experience.I was surprised to read so many reviews stating unprofessional/abusive behaviour of the owner toward staff. I didn't see or experience any of that. On the contrary the staff behind the counter were all calm, collected and attending to their work and when the owner did come out she seemed chill and friendly. I'm not saying that's the way it always is, but I didn't experience any unprofessional demeanor from the owner. The Lox Bagel was fresh, well put together and tasty. I also love the amount of Israeli items they have that are imported. I was looking for a kosher deli and finally I found one in Vancouver. Their lunch items are plenty and so are their breakfast items.definitely going back to try their other items on the menu!

Finally made my way to Solly's Bagelry this last Saturday afternoon. The place itself is nice with a lot of options for food. The bagels are true New York style but on the smaller size, still with a good dense chew.I ordered the small chicken matzo ball soup which tasted great, however the chicken looked from a can. I was very disappointed to see the way one employee was handling food, wearing no gloves or hair net when preparing the bagel sandwiches which is not food safety approved.

Owner is just horrible to staff. I went there for years and every time she was yelling at someone. I finally stopped going when I read the piece about them taking advantage workers on an immigration program. I feel like an idiot for patronizing such awful owners. Siegels and Rosemary Rocksalt make better bagels and there's no drama.Edit: Nice try on the response. Having witnessed the owner berating staff I have no doubt the article I read is true. Also, whoever wrote this call me if you're still working there next week!

Came here on a Thursday and it wasn’t crowded at all. They have a vast variety of bakery and they are not expensive. I loved being at the terrace enjoying the day, unfortunately the tables were not 100% clean. They were kind of sticky but rather than that everything was good. Their cinnamon roll is just amazing! Totally worth it!

Huge selection on food , and baked goods. Unfortunately I wouldn’t say I overly enjoyed my time in there. I came on a Thursday around 11am. Wasn’t very busy at first and then it picked up around noon. I ordered a sesame seed bagel and cream cheese ! The amount of cream cheese was insane I definitely enjoyed the amount ! Unfortunately for “hot fresh bagels” mine was super stale and chewy. Tasted like it was made 3 days before. All the tables had signs that flipped over saying “ Sanitized and un-sanitized ” for after you use the table. ALL of the tables were sticky and flipped to “un -sanitized “ and over the hour we were there eating our food and drink not once did any of the 5 employees in the front come over and clean up. It was a bit disappointing because especially during this pandemic I think it’s very important to keep your place clean and open to people wanting to enjoy their food. Another thing that I found surprising was I asked for almond milk instead of regular milk in my small coffee and they charged me an additional $1.50 for a small amount ! I think that’s a bit much… I’ve been to many coffee shops downtown and haven’t had to pay that before. ( some people can’t have dairy) Overall they have lots of choices, maybe some of their delicious looking bakery items are better, but personally the bagels were a bit disappointing.

I enjoy their lox and cream cheese bagel a lot. The cinnamon bun is a hit or miss but on the sweeter side because of the sugar that is lathered in top. But it’s delicious when fresh and warm.I have to admit, I would come here more often but its slightly overpriced for what you get even with the meal combo, which does fill you up.I understand the rising costs of food, rent etc. but in the end, it’s still just a bagel or sandwich. As for parking, mostly paid street parking. You might find some free 2 hour parking along Alberta. As for decor, I like the homey feel and hope it doesn’t change to a cookie cutter, no character place. The cleanliness is fine. I feel like it’s very much walking into your neighbors home or kitchen.I recommend this bagelry. It’s been around for a long time, so must be doing something right!

Enjoyed unique Jewish foods and pastries in this quiet neighborhood cafe near Cambie and W Broadway. The mini donuts are good enough for sugar craving of the day. I ordered some mini donuts, hot dog and a side salad, together with a iced coffee. That’s really a fantastic afternoon set for me!

Seems to have gone downhill the last few years. I used to recommend their cinnamon buns as tied for best in town, but the last ones were disappointing: dry, with none of that delicious crispy buttery edge that used to define a glorious solly’s bun.Update re the response from Solly's: These were from the Yukon location. And blaming the weather and your inability to keep and train staff? When I wrote this review, I wasn't aware of the stories about bad labor practices and a poor workplace culture at Solly's. Maybe if you treated your employees better, you'd be able to turn out consistently excellent cinnamon buns.

Visited Solly’s and had their whole grain bagel with chive and onion cream cheese. Bagel is a decent size and you get plenty of cream cheese. I felt the bagel was on the doughier side as far as texture, but the overall flavour with the cream cheese was good.I didn’t have any issues with the service and the vibe seemed good. There are a lot of really interesting Jewish food baked goods on sale. They have a nice outdoor patio area and underground parking for customers. My key issue is the cost. The bagels I had in NYC were bigger, superior texture/flavour and cost slightly less.If you’re close to Solly’s and craving a bagel, go for it. Also, great place to grab Jewish baked goods. However, based on cost and product, I would recommend Rosemary Rocksalt instead.
