Barrie Montessori & Elementary Private School

Administration is very unresponsive. If they can’t even respond to parents’ simple inquiries how could one expect them to meet the needs of their children? Run as profit-centered, not child-centered. There are other better options in the area.

My son has been diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia. At his public school he was struggling and could not keep up with his peers. The public school system wanted him to use speech to text for all of his assignments, which did not address the issue and essentially would handicap my child by not teaching him how to properly read and write. They also wanted him to wear noise cancelling headphones, use a privacy screen and a bouncing chair in the class which would have made him stand out among his classmates. Bullying was a real concern for me, I did not want my child’s differences put on display for all to see. When I first went for a meeting at Barrie Montessori, we talked about these issues and decided right away that we would not use these methods for my sons education. The beauty about this school is that my child can still be in a class with his age group while learning at his individualized level. It’s been over a year that he has been attending school here and now my son reads and writes daily. He will actually come home from school and will write little books or read a story to himself before bed. This would not happen before. Even my doctor has noticed a difference and considers this a success story. My sons teacher notices when he needs movement and provides it for him by allowing him to get up help her with tasks, a huge difference in comparison to his scheduled movement breaks at his old school that would sometimes make him cry if he was enjoying what he was learning at the time. Really cannot thank Barrie Montessori enough. You have made a huge difference in my child’s life!

This is NOT an accredited school! Many students leave and are behind in most subject areas. The administration is cruel to students and staff. I’ve even seen staff crying! Staff are frequently told to ignore emails from parents. When parents to receive emails they are passive aggressive or just plain rude.There are better private schools to send your children!

This is a for profit school and management does not care about early intervention for children with needs. They might pretend that they do but from experience they do not plain and simple. It is sad that parents are being misinformed and basically fooled into believing that management actually cares what is best for the children. It is all about appearances. Supervisors are lacking in child development knowledge. The actually ECE’s are fantastic but mistreated and micromanaged to the point they feel incompetent. There is no positive reinforcement it’s constant ridicule and supervisors and the owner use fear based approaches towards staff. Please do not support this school. There are so many other schools in Barrie, even if for profit, actually care about their staff and families…..please do your research and support them instead.

Very good school for children and child care is excellent very thankful for looking after my child very much recommended ❤️❤️❤️
