Red River Book Store
Been going here since 2002 and it hasn't changed at all it is a bizarre time warp, I believe the owner won the lotto like 40 years ago, bought this crazy building as is completely an original mess. It's a love it hate it place but one no like any other. After covid I feel almost sick going into here it probably hasn't been cleaned since 1982. The guy is half deaf and everything is overwhelming overpriced but at the same time you might actually find something hard to find.

Books books and more books! Pretty much any genre or reference material you are looking for can be found here. They also have a good selection of vinyl, comics book back issues, new comic books, tpb's, dvds and video games.

This place was packed but well organized. Even comics! Parking was easy, but it isn't handicapped accessible.

I've shopped at Red River Books for 35 yrs. Dennis and his staff are very friendly and knowledgeable with everyone, across the board. Their genuine caring over your interests make it a pleasure to browse. They have a calming, peaceful format which works. So diverse, you'll want to visit over and over to find your treasure.

Lots of books, comics, cds, dvds, vinyl some collectibles etc. If you love sorting and searching through piles of stuff this is the place for you. Some junk but lots of good stuff. Marginally organized -you will have to love treasure hunting. The guys are willing to bargain if you are reasonable. Long time owner and establishment that gives good memories of when downtown was thriving with other record shops and retail. One of the originals still somehow in business decades later.

Quirky, cluttered, and ‘somewhat’ disorganized.But if you’re adventurous and patient enough you’ll find something.I found my fave book here (Happy City, C.Montgomery) and my last visit in town I picked up 11 new books at about $6 each average.

Quite possibly my favourite place in the city. Hard to believe places like this still exist. So filled with charm and character, not to mention shockingly well organized, and with great customer service. A must-visit in my books. Great prices too!

One of my favorite places in Winnipeg! There's a ton of selection of all kinds of genres, and the prices are fantastic. I love the atmosphere of the store, it's cozy and kind of quirky. I don't mind that things aren't perfectly alphabetized - part of the fun of finding a cool treasure is the hunt! Spending a bit of extra time to look around is totally worth it for what this store has to offer :)

Hard to believe this place has not changed in 40 years. Books all over the place, stacked high on a floor that has rarely if ever been swept. Attempts at sorting have been met with abject failure. Is the place dusty? Yep. Would I come here again? Absolutely. Each visit is an adventure, as if the pile of books you are going thru have been left for you and you alone to rediscover. Love it.
