Harbourlite Restaurant

I love this place I went a few days ago and had a burger and fries I had the most wonderful cashier who was fun chatty and overall very nice. Would highly recommend and I am definitely coming back.

We have visited Harbourlite restaurant on 01 September 2019 afternoon for an ice cream. Walking in you are welcomed by an acrid smell irritating your eyes and nostrils. Sure sign of frying oil past its deep frying prime.Unfazed we ordered one ice cream order of 2 scoops. Each of these 2 scoops a different flavor. Nothing special really, right? Turns out that 2 scoops is called a regular size order and can only be served in one flavor. In other words both scoops HAVE to be the same flavor. Requesting an explanation we've got a shrug.Turns out that if one wants two flavors ice cream a 3 scoop order must be placed. That's right; for two flavors ice cream one must purchase 3 scoops ice cream paying for 3 scoops. Even though I only wanted to eat 2 scoops. ... just two different flavors.I do not understand such nonsense and possible explanation eludes me just as it did the servers. My wife did not even attempt to order hers. We left without purchasing any ice cream.And behold the picture of a young server scrubbing an ice cream while fully in the display refrigerator. Ice cream with hair, dandruff and skin flakes perhaps? Disgusting.We've requested an owner or a manager, were told she was not present, asked for a contact info, received a mobile phone number. Called promptly and left a voice message explaining our .... confusion and dissatisfaction. Shockingly no call back.

We were totally disappointed. We have always enjoyed going there for ice cream and to enjoy the boat and pier. This time it was bad. You had to order on one side of the building and pick up on the other side( no signs indicating where to go). We ordered two ice cream cones, 2 scoops. Ice cream was icy and the cones were stale and it cost over $9.00. We won’t be back.

This place is a dive, worst customer service, Horrible experience, by an accident I dropped my burger with my two children with me as I was holding the door for them, did not even have a bite as I bought it for take out, asked if the chef would make a new one because I paid $10 for the burger alone and $40 for my whole meal and he refused… So I then asked to speak with the owners. As he doesn’t have the authority to even say no, the chef then called the owners as he was to lazy to just make the burger over and they told him to make a new burger for me as any owner would that was the only way he would because clearly customers don’t mean much to him only money he makes by sitting doing nothing, that’s just sad customer service and a clear act of laziness as no one was there and no orders were being made and the chef was sitting doing nothing besides looking on his phone, just pure lazy and has no respect for customers. I recommend not eating here as the other food we also ordered was cold and outdated also the restaurant itself was filthy

Best fries ever! Burgers are tasty!However, staff (mainly kids with no previous work experience) get mistreated.

picnic tables outside were filthy, and the ground could use a sweeping too. inside of restaurant was pretty dirty and rundown too. we had pop and hotdogs which were average..cant really screw that up. they were out of most of the ice cream flavors we wanted. overall not too impressed

The Harbourlite Restaurant has been a staple of the Port Elgin shore and Harbour for as long as I can remember. Serving great sized simple Beach food. Burgers, fries, breakfast. Expect a wait since everything is made fresh to order. Younger staff could be friendlier.Don't miss a Lake Huron(Port Elgin) Sunset with an Ice Cream.

Visited this place July 19, 2022.This is by far one of the worst restaurants I've been to. Cook refusing to make orders that have been paid for, refusing to fix orders that he made wrong, belittling the cashier in front of the restaurant full of customers, arguing in front of everyone. This is your reputation and word of mouth is everything. Will never go again and definitely will never recommend this place to anyone.

Tried the burger and fries, both where delicious. The fries were some of the best I've had and the staff were so friendly!

The best mom & pop Icecream shop on Lake Huron. Make sure you also get fries and a burger! Port Elgin’s very own hidden gem.
